As of Oct. 5, 2015, this page is run by a group of concerned citizens and dog lovers called Animal Advocates of Karnes County. A voice for the voiceless dogs (and occasional cat) that need help at the City of Kenedy Animal Control. The shelter is lucky to have a higher volume rescue or no kill shelter that takes in the dogs now, not one healthy dog has been euthanized since the start of this page.
This page was started and is admined by ONE VOLUNTEER in cooperation with the City of Kenedy Animal Control Officer (ACO) back in May of 2014. Prior to this page only 5% of 300 dogs a year made it out of the municipal shelter alive. After this page was started things changed for the better and ALL dogs are saved, only the very sick or injured beyond repair are put to sleep. Most are rescued! In July 2014 the new ACO started his own page too called City of Kenedy Animal Control. I will still post here to give the dogs and cats maximum exposure and to continue teaching lessons about humane care of our furry friends. Kenedy is in Karnes County a small rural county just 60 miles SE of San Antonio, Texas, the pets there get NO exposure for rescue or adoption other than this page started by volunteers (the City started their own page too now!)
This page was started on May 23, 2014, after a story circulated about 2 dogs that starved to death in their kennels at the City of Kenedy Animal Control shelter. The dogs were in poor shape when they were picked up and had no chance of survival without immediate vet care.
