Each day, we will feature a new Art on Main Bench. Your favorite bench could be yours! All are up for auction at https://www.32auctions.com/ArtonMain, and if you want to make sure you are not outbid, you can even Buy It Now.

The sale of the benches benefit Historic Downtown Kendallville and other local, participating non-profits.

Today's feature: Bench of Belonging

The sale of this bench will benefit Historic Downtown Kendallville and Noble County Pride.

From Noble County Pride:
Inspired by the foundational efforts of Hoosiers from the Gay People's Union, Metropolitan Community Church, and other LGBTQ+ activists, this piece commemorates 50 years of organized community visibility and the freedom to live openly in Indiana.

Members of Pride of Noble County designed this bench using the colors of the Progress Pride Flag, acknowledging the ongoing work required to foster a truly equitable and understanding community.

🏳️‍🌈Thank you to everyone who came out to our Pride Potluck 🏳️‍🌈

We ran into capacity/logistics issues this year but where there’s a will, there’s a way. A very special thank you to the hosts of the private residence for allowing us to host the event at their residence this year.

Our next in-person community engagement will be Friday with Friends, August 28th at 6PM at a Kendallville restaurant. We did receive some feedback about how many of our events seem to be Kendallville-centric. We hear you! We’ll be exploring additional venues throughout Noble County for future Fridays with Friends events, preferably a local business. More to come, stay tuned!

Our Pride Potluck is one week away! Sunday, August 16th from noon to 2PM at a private residence in rural Kendallville. This is an casual get-together intended to give q***r folk and allies an opportunity to hang out and enjoy each other's company. Don’t be a stranger, DM us to RSVP, and be sure to let us know:

How many people you’ll be bringing (if more than just your beautiful self)
Whether you’ll bring a dish (encouraged, but not required!) and if so, what
Whether you have any dietary/allergy restrictions
Whether you require special accommodation for a disability / medical condition

We are monitoring early forecast signals for rain on Sunday. The event will be held rain or shine. In the event of inclement weather, the potluck will be held indoors.

Thank you to everyone who came out to donate blood at our blood drive on Thursday. Thanks to you, we exceeded our units collected goal! We are also proud to say that our drive attracted several first-time donors!

Even if you showed up but weren't eligible to give blood, showing up is the first and hardest part. Thank you for taking the time to do so. Maybe next time!

Thanks is also due to the numerous individuals who helped us spread the word, the KPL staff, our volunteers, and the Red Cross staff.

The national blood supply crisis continues. If you weren't able to give blood on Thursday, please visit the Red Cross website to find upcoming opportunities near you. If you're looking to give blood again, note that you must wait at least eight weeks (56 days) between donations of whole blood and 16 weeks (112 days) between Power Red donations.

Thank you.

100 Days Until Election Day.

In 100 days, we have the opportunity to help shape the future for LGBTQ+ people and their families.

This time, let’s vote for leaders who believe every LGBTQ+ person deserves dignity, safety, freedom, and equal protection under the law.

Let’s vote out those who have worked to strip away LGBTQ+ rights, ban medically necessary healthcare, censor books, silence teachers, target trans people, and make families feel less safe.

Our votes matter.

Our voices matter.

Our LGBTQ+ loved ones matter.

The countdown has begun.

Every conversation, every story, every vote matters.

100 days. Let’s make them count.

🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️🏳️‍🌈
