Wild Alaska Salmon are part of the cultural fabric of our state. The Alaska Salmon Alliance is an organization focused on public education, promoting the value of scientifically based salmon management to preserve habitats and create predictable harvests for all salmon users in the Cook Inlet region. The Alaska Salmon Alliance promotes long-term sustainability and is a source for accurate informat
ion about the salmon industry. We advocate for a thoughtful, process-oriented allocation of Cook Inlet salmon for the benefit of all Alaska. The Alaska Samon Alliance (ASA), is a 501(c)6 fisheries trade organization representing seafood processors and commercial fishermen of the Kenai Peninsula. We have joined together with the goal of preserving long-term opportunities, not just for ourselves, but for all user groups dependent on the salmon stocks of Cook Inlet in Southcentral Alaska. The Alaska Salmon Alliance envisions that salmon will be a part or our culture forever. The Alaska Salmon Alliance, established in 2011 will advocate for and promote salmon policies that result in long term economic opportunities and benefits for Alaska coastal communities for future generations. To achieve its goals, the ASA is creating an advocacy program to promote sustainable and science-based salmon management policies and regulations. To this end, the ASA will develop a positive working relationship with the Alaska Board of Fisheries, the Alaska Legislature, Kenai Peninsula Borough, the Anchorage Assembly and the Matanuska- Susitna Borough, and residents of the Southcentral region. The ASA will also collaborate with other organizations to protect and enhance the salmon resources of the region and to insure the future of the Alaska salmon industry. The ASA also intends to establish, maintain and support comprehensive research programs to provide quality data to the industry, the general public and public agencies and commercial organizations.
