Silver Bee Community Garden

Silver Bee Community Garden The Silver Bee Community Garden exists to provide an outreach for all shades of green thumbs.

OUR VISION: To provide a beautiful space for our community to gather and grow by making dedicated plots, healthy soil, seeds, water, tools, and the support of seasoned gardeners available at a nominal cost. Our primary focus is to encourage the cultivation and consumption of healthy produce for individuals who wish to grow a garden, but lack the requisite space or knowledge. Our secondary focus is

to make excess, locally grown, organic produce available to others in our community by contributing to our local food bank, senior meals program, and farmers' market when possible.

Hello bees, I’ve been meaning to make a post about a few things at the garden this spring.

Please, please if you have not gotten your forms and money to me. You need to do that ASAP. Please contact me so we can figure something out.

We still have about five plots available if you know anyone.

There are a lot of little annual w**ds that are going to seed in plots. These need to be addressed soon!

There seems to be a new w**d that looks like it’s in the spurge family (small ground cover, bronze color with heart shaped leaves) down on the West End, please bag that in the garbage can!! I do not want that in the compost.

We should have our new community beds done within the next few weeks.

Thank you, Deanne

Good morning, we will be revamping the community beds at the garden in the next few weeks. I am in the process of removing some of the existing plants and staging them in plot number one. The garlic beds will remain as is.
if you’d like to give me a hand I’ll be moving the plants and staging in #1 within the next few days so that we can remove the boards and reconfigure the beds.
Thank you
Deanne

Mike and I repaired six beds yesterday, will try to get a few more done as the weather gets better and we find time.

Garden is open today. I’ll need forms and money prior to anyone starting.

We do have available plots. Let your friends and family know.
Thanks~ Deanne

Good morning, I will head to the garden this morning to get the hose on the shed for our alternate water source. Please refrain from snarky texts and voicemails complaining about the water being off. There is a breakage in the park and they will address it when they are able. Just a friendly reminder that the city provides water to the garden free of charge. If you would like to be part of the solution let me know what time any of you are available Friday - Sunday so I can get some help repairing our water storage tanks and we can get some stored for possible future breaks of the irrigation system.
Thank you for your understanding-Deanne

Hello, hey I just heard that we have a major break down at the park so we are without water tonight. They’re hoping to have it fixed by tomorrow please pull water from behind the green shed if necessary thank you.

Hello, I apologize this page was not active.. Its back. LOL. Welcome to our 2025 garden season!

First of all~ Thank you to all of you that have been helping so much this year by repairing/painting the picnic table, tending to the compost, getting out the hoses, w**ding abandoned plots, mowing, trimming, watering the long beds and flowers. We really appreciate all this help.

Just a friendly reminder that plots need to be tended to and planted asap, as stated in the garden rules.

If any of you want another one please let me now, we have about five that aren't completely full of w**ds. I think at this point I will overseed with crimson clover in the worse ones for a cover crop/soil conditioner. I will mark these somehow so maybe we can give them a watering this season.

Again, I couldn't have done it without your help. Thank you!
