(Last Updated - 5:30 p.m.) Well, hey there, Winter Storm Fern. Welcome to Keller! Here’s what you need to know, y’all:
🚗 ROADS
With additional accumulation throughout the day and temperatures now well below freezing, Public Works continues to spread salt/sand mix at intersections, along bridges and in other traffic trouble spots around town. Plow operations have also started, focused primarily in North Keller to clear curves and hills.
The low water crossing in Bear Creek Park has been closed, and Keller PD reports slick conditions on Hwy. 377 north of Mt. Gilead Road, as well as on highway overpasses and bridges in the area (377, 170 and 114). Please take things slow and easy if you’re heading out.
Our Public Works teams will continue to work in rotating 12-hour shifts to keep Keller roads as safe as possible for those who need to travel. Please give them room to work.
💡ELECTRICITY
Still no electrical outages in Keller! Hopefully that luck holds overnight. Please keep in mind that both Oncor and Tri-County offer outage maps on their websites, which will provide the most up-to-date information on restoration times should we lose power.
📚👟 FACILITIES
The Keller Pointe and the Keller Public Library will be closed today, Jan. 24, and Sunday, Jan. 25.
Additionally, all restrooms and water fountains in the park system have been winterized and closed, so please plan ahead for potty breaks if you’re venturing out.
🗳️ VOTING
The polls are open today at Keller Town Hall for early voting in the State Senate District 9 race, but Tarrant County has decided to close all polling locations on Sunday, Jan. 25. They also anticipate delayed openings on Monday, Jan. 26.
Before heading to the polls, we encourage you to check www.tarrantcounty.com/evote for the latest.
🗑️🍂 GARBAGE/RECYCLING/LEAVES
Our partners at Community Waste Disposal have called off collections for today.
Several of those who signed up for today’s planned leaf collection had their materials picked up yesterday, and that list will be used to prioritize collections after the storm.
