Besides graduating new teammates today, we had an awesome experience happen!
Who gets to reenlist on the only World War II era flying C-49J???
SPC Winston Castillo raised his right hand and reenlisted into the Texas National Guard aboard C‑49J Southern Cross — moments before stepping out the door for his jump.
Currently serving with 3rd Mobile Brigade Combat Team, the Rakkasans, at Fort Campbell, SPC Castillo will soon transfer to the 1st Battalion (Airborne), 143rd Infantry Regiment, joining the long line of Texas paratroopers who carry the airborne legacy forward.
LTC (R) Jon Ring, president of Liberty Jump Team and former commander of the 1-507th Parachute Infantry Regt., administered the Oath of Reenlistment before serving as Winston’s jumpmaster — a fitting way to honor a Soldier choosing to continue his service.
We are incredibly proud of Winston and honored to share this milestone with him.
