Why We Exist
Soaring Heights Recovery Homes believe in second chances, we have seen the need and we have witnessed the positive outcomes. We provide an opportunity for individuals who have struggled

with addiction, while they make changes in their lives and begin again. Our homes allow people a place to rebuild their lives, reunite with their families and become productive people in their communities. The impact it has on our community and these families has been amazing. Reaching out to another individual means a step towards hope. This is our way of saying we believe in you and we are here to help.

In response to forecasted extreme heat, MWVCAA is opening our Cooling Centers on Sunday, 6/14, and Monday, 6/15, to provide a safe, cooled place for individuals at risk.

MWVCAA Cooling Centers will operate from 1PM to 7PM at the following locations, in addition to regular hours of operation:

• Arches Day Center
615 Commercial St NE, Salem, OR
Adults 18+ only
Partners and pets welcomed
Cool beverages provided

• Woodburn Shelter
1560 Hardcastle Rd, Woodburn, OR
Adults 18+ only
Partners and pets welcomed

• Family First Day Center
1255 Broadway St. NE, Salem, OR
Families and pets welcomed

Our outreach team will also be hitting the streets across Marion County offering cooling assistance.

Living every day to the fullest!

Coming out of isolation

"We find ourselves doing and enjoying things that we never thought we would be doing."

Active addiction kept us isolated for many reasons. In the beginning, we avoided family and friends so they wouldn't find out we were using. Some of us avoided all nonaddicts, fearing moral backlash and legal repercussions. We belittled people who had "normal" lives with families and hobbies; we called them "uncool," believing we could never enjoy the simple pleasures of life. Eventually, we even avoided other addicts because we didn't want to share our drugs. Our lives narrowed, and our concerns were confined to the daily maintenance of our disease.

Today, our lives are much fuller. We enjoy activities with other recovering addicts. We have time for our families. And we've discovered many other pursuits that give us pleasure. What a change from the past! We can live life just as fully as the "normal" people we once scorned. Enjoyment has returned to our lives, a gift of recovery.

Just for Today: I can find pleasure in the simple routines of daily living.
