My friends in animal rescue + welfare you will NEVER be good enough.
I’ve been doing this so long that the number one question I get is, how have you not burnt out? The answer, because I know deep in my heart, I’ll never be good enough and I’m okay with that. ⬇️

What does that mean? It means, you will rescue 99, but some people will only remember the one you didn’t get to. You will be a social media favorite for years, until the one day you decide you need a day off. You will get accolades and awards, but only if you give up your own boundaries. You will work tirelessly and be forgotten the moment you fall asleep.

You are only as good as your last act. They will love you one moment and hate you the second you run out of favors. Politicians will use you one day and deceive you the next. That’s okay. It’s okay, I promise you. The key to living this kind of life is to KNOW deep in your heart that you will never be good enough for PEOPLE, to be honest, most people aren’t good enough for you, because you have a heart of gold. You’re good enough for that dog, strong enough for that cat. You’ve held neonates lives in your hand, and felt the quiver of a discarded dog’s last breath. You shine enough to help a community and are chosen for a life that many don’t understand.

Don’t ever aim to be “good enough” for other people. There isn’t one second of my day that I care if anyone likes me.
I just want dogs to like me , because even on days when people have their own opinions about me, you’ll be hard pressed to find a dog who doesn’t know that I’m enough.

Take care of yourself. Get quiet in the noise that will surround you, that’s the only way to hear your heart.
