The Monadnock Climbers Association (MCA) is a local non-profit volunteer climbers' organization that works to build cohesive relationships with landowners, conservation groups, advocacy groups, and state and local governments to keep climbing areas open and conserve the climbing environment in southwest New Hampshire and surrounding areas. We represent climbers of all disciplines including rock climbing, ice climbing, mixed climbing, and bouldering.

Many Hands Make light Work
The Monadnock Climbers Association fielded a work party of ten members for a cleanup mission at Bears Den led by Jim Legee. With so many helping hands the removal of a squatter's tensite and restoring the natural beauty of the glacial potholes went quickly.

Save The Date!

8-22-2026 - Bears Den Natural Area Cleanup, starting @ 9:00 am - 2:00 pm ? (rain date 8-23-2026)

Come out and join us for a clean up day at Bears Den Natural area. Rt 10 Gilsum, NH at the top of Bingham hill

Bears Den is home to over 30 rock climbs. Our work on this area helps to ensure long term access and good relations with the state. You will be working side by side with fellow rock climbers who appreciate this resource and value the oportunity to climb there.

We will be cleaning up an abandoned camp, collecting trash, flagging the trail and removing debree from the pot holes.

Bring a lunch, water, snacks and enthusiasm.

The "Cut" has had some activity, with climbers and Ice building. you want to get after that!

1-29-2026, Ice has grown, but the cut is still sparce. Non of the regular lines (pillar) are in, but new lines have appeared. Cold explosive ice...

not much in, P*e Flow has started to build, but sparce. The other 2 routes below are short, but climbable.

Keene railroad cut ice report 9:30 AM 12/13/2025

Not sure what these routes are called, but these are the only ones that are remotely in.

Plenty of dry tooling to be had.
