A panel of five local teens spoke on Monday about facing repeated bullying, sexual harassment and physical attacks while at school during a community discussion at the Saranac Lake Free Library, co-hosted by Adirondack North Country Gender Alliance and Saranac Lake Youth Center.

Update on the possibility of a Keene/ Keene Valley Pride event this year:

We acknowledged that it is critical to include the voices of members of our local LGBTQIA+ community in this planning process to ensure that if we do move forward with an event, it will be meaningful for our LGBTQIA+ community. We’d like to hold off on making further decisions until more voices are invited/included.

Robbi Mecus was a strong leader in these events in the past and it would be great if another member of our LGBTQIA+ community would be willing to lead (this year and in future years!)

Allies are at the ready to help in any and all ways.

There is support from the Keene Diversity Advisory Committee (KDAC), the school’s DEI committee, and the KVCC for an event.

We have many connections at the ready who could provide a tent, donations, music, performances, speakers, etc for a safe, celebratory family-friendly event.

Inviting all to share this message with our wider community. We are ready to make Pride 2024 happen but want to make sure it's something the community wants, too!

If you identify as LGBTQIA+ and would like to lead organizing, get involved in or provide input, please email KDAC at [email protected] by next Friday, May 31.

SUNY Plattsburgh to hold a Black Solidarity Day Social Justice Teach-In - November 6th

The teach-in is a day to meditate on the meaning of social justice and civic engagement in what could be a multi-racial democracy.

ANCGA needs help loading tables & chairs (Plattsburgh United Methodist Church, 127 Beekman St, Plattsburgh) into the U-Haul truck at 𝟐:𝟎𝟎 𝐩𝐦 on Friday afternoon.

1. 𝐒𝐞𝐭𝐮𝐩 𝐢𝐧 𝐓𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐏𝐚𝐫𝐤 𝐛𝐞𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚 𝟗:𝟎𝟎 𝐚𝐦 to set up tents, tables, chairs.
2. Help with Parade check in and placement of marching groups, cars, trucks, floats & assist in their sendoff down the parade route.
