Specifically, the Adirondack Climbers' Coalition mission will:

• include all technical climbing pursuits (e.g., technical rock climbing, slide climbing,
bouldering, ice and mixed climbing, and technical mountaineering)
• work with land managers to:
∙ preserve access to cliffs, boulders, and slides
∙ maintain sustainable approach paths
∙ protect cliff tops and bases

provide educational resources and historical information
• conserve and protect local flora and fauna and their habitat
• serve as a liaison between climbers, land managers, and policy makers
• prioritize and pursue land acquisitions important to climbers

⚠️ Starting April 1st, temporary cliff closures to protect peregrine falcon nesting sites will go into place.

🪶 As climbers, we're able to help protect this incredible species by avoiding sensitive nesting sites. Peregrine populations have seen a positive increase with the help of our community over the years. Let's keep up the good work!

It's time for our Annual Public Meeting!

We’re holding our Annual Public Meeting at RockSport Climbing & Outdoor Guiding Center on Thursday, December 18th, from 7:30–9:00 PM. This meeting will be in person only, don't forget to bring a folding camp chair. We'll be giving updates on what the ACC has been up to in 2025, and talk about next year's plans for Adirondack climbing advocacy.

The first ACC Legacy Series event happened this past weekend!

Thank you to everyone who came out and listened to Jamie Cunningham's stories of early Adirondack rock climbing development and culture. We were able to raise over $1,000, all while connecting old generations with new, sharing stories all along the way.

The Adirondack Climbers’ Coalition is happy to announce that we are hosting our inaugural Adirondack Climbing Legacy Series Event on Saturday, October 25th, 6-10 pm upstairs at Smoke Signals restaurant in Lake Placid, NY!

Jamie Cunningham was a very active member of the climbing community in the High Peaks region during the early 1980’s. He’ll be sharing stories and giving us a look at what the local climbing scene was like during his time here.

We’ll be having a contest for who can climb the most routes on Saturday, October 25th, that Jamie was involved in the FA of. So get those guide books out and start planning your day of climbing! Photo proof while on route with timestamp needed for verification. Prize announcement coming soon.

After Jamie’s presentation, stick around to dance, hang out, and catch up with the climbing community while Austin and the In-Laws provides the tunes.

6 pm - Doors open
6:30 pm - Jamie Cunningham Inaugural Adirondack Climbing Legacy Series Presentation
7:45 pm - Raffle and Contest Winners Announced

The Southern Adirondack Rockclimbers' Festival is almost here!

🗓 When? September 12-14,

📍Where? Caroga Lake Region

🧗‍♀️ This year, the Southern Adirondack Rockclimbers' Festival will be hosted at the Sand Flats Orchard in Fonda, NY for meet-ups, free camping, and shared meals. Come hang out, reconnect with climbing partners, and check out the local crags.

🪨 What cliffs/crags? During the weekend, you could check out Pinnacle Mountain, Lost T Cliff, Lost Hunters Cliff, State Brook, and the bouldering at Nine Corner Lake.

Adirondack cliff closure updates:

Our website has been updated with the latest changes to the peregrine falcon cliff closures (link in our bio), with many areas opening back up.

Specifically, Upper/Lower Washbowl, Moss Cliff, and Potash (minus a few routes and some clifftop access) are now open for climbing.

Adirondack climbers! Cliff closures are in effect around the park, and our peregrine page on the ACC website is updated with the latest information. You can visit this page via the link in our bio for accurate and updated, cliff-specific closure info.

Across the country, climbers have helped peregrine falcons recover from the effects of DDT by staying off of cliffs that host nest sites. Let's hold each other accountable, and make sure this incredible species is here for the long-term!
