The Adirondack Climbers' Coalition needs help!
We have a planned trailwork weekend at Ragged Mountain!
After connecting with the DEC and the Adirondack Mountain Club, we’ve got a plan in place to continue improving access to one of the Adirondacks’ unique climbing areas. This project is especially meaningful as it’s the FIRST trail in the region designed specifically with climbers in mind.
DETAILS:
📅 When? May 16 & 17
⏰ What time? 9:00 AM – 2:00 PM
📌 Meeting location: Start of Gulf Brook Road

The will be joining us as we work to complete two belay platforms and continue trail benching near the cliff.
What should you expect?
The work site is about a 15-minute uphill hike from the parking area. We recommend bringing a backpack with everything you’ll need for the day so you don’t have to return to your vehicle. The work will be physically demanding, moving dirt, wood, and rocks.
What should you bring?
• Closed-toe shoes
• Durable clothing that can get dirty
• Work gloves
• Food and water
• Extra layers, sunglasses, medications, etc.
The ACC will provide all necessary tools, but you’re welcome to bring your own (shovel, pick mattock, rake, etc.).
📋 A few important notes!
• For safety reasons, participants must be 12 or older, and pets are not permitted
• Paperwork will need to be completed before work begins each day
• If you arrive late, expect an additional ~15-minute walk to reach the group
• Can’t stay the whole time? No problem—join us for whatever time you can
• This event is rain or shine. In the event of absolutely terrible weather, updates will happen via social media and email.
While the ACC won’t be organizing climbing during the event, you’re welcome to stick around and climb on your own afterward.

This is a great opportunity to give back to the climbing community, meet other local climbers, and help shape the future of access in the Adirondacks. We hope to see you out there.
