Congratulations to Benjamin Kanagy (Trinity Academy, 2021), who has earned a Master of Arts in Biblical Exegesis (Old & New Testament) from Wheaton College!

This August, Benjamin will begin the next chapter of his journey as a Humanities instructor at a classical school in Fayetteville, Arkansas, teaching courses in Old Testament, New Testament, and Literature. He feels this role offers the ideal environment to grow as an educator while continuing to engage deeply with classical learning and holistic formation.

We are excited to congratulate Tamilore Adeagbo (Eisenhower High, 2021) on earning her Master of Health Science in Mental Health from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. When reflecting on her undergraduate experience, she shared Proverbs 16:3, "Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and he will establish your plans."

This fall, Tamilore will continue her academic journey by matriculating into medical school at the University of California, Los Angeles, David Geffen School of Medicine, where she will pursue her Doctor of Medicine. She chose UCLA because it values both clinical excellence and a deep commitment to serving diverse communities, and she feels the opportunity to learn from one of the most culturally and socioeconomically diverse patient populations in the country will challenge her to become a more empathetic, adaptable, and thoughtful physician. Beyond its academic reputation, UCLA also stood out to Tamilore for its collaborative environment and its emphasis on innovation, advocacy, and human-centered care.

We are proud to congratulate Owen Dent (Eisenhower High, 2026) on being awarded the 2026 KSHSAA True Blue Scholarship, a highly competitive honor recognizing excellence both in and beyond the classroom. This scholarship is awarded to students who demonstrate outstanding community service, academic achievement, involvement across KSHSAA-recognized activities, and notable accomplishments in those activities.

Out of 561 applicants statewide, only 35 students were selected for this distinction, making the True Blue Scholarship a significant recognition of leadership, dedication, and well-rounded achievement.

We are proud to congratulate Toller Phipps (Heights High, 2022) on earning his Bachelor of Science in Engineering! This summer, he will intern at Sandia National Laboratories. This fall, he will begin his Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering at Arizona State University through the Accelerated Master’s program, with long-term goals of entering the nuclear power industry.

We are also excited to celebrate his recent recognition by ASU’s Ira A. Fulton Schools of Engineering, highlighting his academic excellence and future potential.

We are excited to congratulate Carson Brenneman (Classical School, 2022) on graduating from Oklahoma State University with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science!

This summer, Carson will be working on Philip Sarnecki’s gubernatorial campaign. In August, he will take the next step in his academic journey by beginning law school at the University of Kansas.

We’re excited to celebrate Eli Aziere (The Independent School, 2024) on receiving an Honors Fellowship through the Charles Center at the College of William & Mary, along with the Anthropology Department’s Altshuler Scholarship. Together, these awards will support 10 full weeks of honors research for Eli’s anthropology major, conducted on campus in Oceanic Archaeology Lab under the mentorship of Jennifer Kahn, from late May through early August.

Eli’s research is a comparative archaeological study of two sites on the island of Rurutu in French Polynesia, examining feasting, ritual, and shell artifact use over time through microscopic analysis of shell tools. This project will be the first comparative study of shell artifacts in the island’s history and aims to advance archaeological knowledge while elevating the cultural heritage of Oceania—an underrepresented region in anthropology. The work will culminate in an Honors thesis, to be written during the academic year and defended in spring 2027.

We want to extend a huge congratulations to Eli Aziere (The Independent School, 2024) on being recognized by Fraternity and Sorority Life at William & Mary as the Fraternity Man of the Year during last month's Evening of Excellence Award Ceremony. This honor recognizes Eli's leadership, service, and commitment to academic excellence, and came just three days after he helped recharter the fraternity.

Eli currently serves as the Internal Vice President for the Gamma Chapter of Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity and as the Vice President of Academic Excellence for William & Mary's Interfraternity Council.

For spring break, Israel Torres (Northeast Magnet, 2024), traveled to the rural community of Azacilo, Bolivia, with Wichita State University’s Engineers Without Borders chapter. He was joined by three other student members, faculty advisor Dr. Jacob Mendez, and the Responsible Engineer in Charge, Dwight Hanson. Their goal was to gather data required to formulate a sustainable, long-term solution to improve community access to safe drinking water, especially during the dry seasons.

Israel worked closely with community members to assess the existing water system. This process involved testing water in every home, taking flow measurements, mapping the infrastructure with GPS, and identifying potential improvements to improve water reliability. He also worked with the community to better understand their needs and priorities moving forward.
