Special Council meeting tonight, August 12 at 6pm. Please attend and voice your concerns with the Township's proposed ordinance to dissolve Fire District #4.

On July 14 the NJ DCA claimed there are only 10-12 responses per month in District 4. FALSE

On July 28th the Mayor claimed "an average of barely one call a week" in District 4. FALSE

These statements not only don't align with each other, but they are both FALSE on their own.

Over the past 12 months Distict 4 responded to an average of 16 calls per month in District.
In the past week alone, District 4 has responded to 10 calls in District. These calls included a fire at an industrial property, a fire alarm activation at a multifamily building, brush fire and multiple motor vehicle accidents.

🚒 Woodbridge officials have voted to move forward with closing the 117-year-old Keasbey Fire District No. 4.

Township leaders say the move would improve emergency response and lower property taxes, while opponents argue it's really about clearing the way for future redevelopment. A final vote is scheduled for Aug. 12.

The next scheduled public meeting regarding the proposed closure of our Department is Wednesday August 12 at the Woodbridge Municipal Building.

The council voted Tuesday unanimously to redo the ordinance dissolving Keasbey Fire District Number Four. The mayor laid out his fullest public case yet for the merger. Update on actions by Woodbridge Township Mayor and Council to dissolve Fire District #4 of Keasbey.

-A new Special Meeting of the Township Council has been scheduled for Tues. July 28th @ 6pm at the Municipal Building. The purpose of this meeting will be to "abandon" the actions taken at the June 30 and July 14 meetings and reintroduce the ordinance.
We ask that you attend this meeting and voice your concerns to the Council.

-The proposed ordinance states that Fire District #7 currently responds to all calls for service within Fire District #4 along with Keasbey units. This is FALSE. No such agreement exists between the two Districts.

-The proposed ordinance states that many of the residents of District 4 "reside geographically closer to the Fords Fire Department than the Keasbey Fire Department". This is largely inaccurate. Only a handful of addresses in District 4 are closer to Station 7 than to Station 4.
Examples -
- 12 E. William St. is .6 mile from Station 7 and .8 mile from Station 4.
- Hillside Gardens is .9 mile from Station 7 and only .8 mile from Station 4
- 29 Judy Dr is 2.7 miles from Station 7 and only 1.3 miles from Station 4.
- Florida Grove Manor is 1.6 miles from Station 7 and only 1.2 miles from Station 4
- 75 Crows Mill Rd is 2.2 miles from Station 7 and only .6 mile from Station 4.

-The presentation by the State of NJ representative on July 14 included findings that were outdated, including staffing number, schedules and qualifications.

Desde 1908, la compañía de bomberos Protection Fire Co. #1 de Keasbey ha estado ayudando y protegiendo a nuestra comunidad.

Ahora necesitamos su ayuda para poder seguir brindando servicios de protección contra incendios a la localidad de Keasbey.

El alcalde y el Concejo Municipal están avanzando con una propuesta de ordenanza para disolver permanentemente el Distrito de Bomberos n.º 4; esto eliminará la compañía de bomberos voluntarios, suprimiría los puestos de 8 bomberos profesionales de tiempo completo destacados en Keasbey y cerraría la estación de bomberos ubicada en el 420 de Smith St., en Keasbey. De aprobarse, esta ordenanza transferiría la responsabilidad de la protección contra incendios de Keasbey al Distrito de Bomberos n.º 7 de Fords. Consideramos que muchos de los puntos de la ordenanza propuesta son inexactos.

Tanto la Junta de Comisionados de Bomberos de Keasbey como la compañía Protection Fire Co. #1 de Keasbey se oponen a esta ordenanza y desean continuar con nuestra labor de servicio a los residentes de Keasbey, que ya suma 118 años.

WE need YOUR help!!
Since 1908, Protection Fire Co #1 of Keasbey has been helping and protecting our community.

Now we need your help in order to continue providing fire protection to the town of Keasbey.

The Mayor and Town Council are moving forward with a proposed ordinance to permanently dissolve Fire Dist. #4 that would eliminate the volunteer fire company, eliminate 8 full time career firefighters stationed in Keasbey and close the firehouse located at 420 Smith St in Keasbey. This ordinance, if approved, would hand over fire protection of Keasbey to Fire Dist. #7 in Fords, along with all of the District's assets. We believe that many of the points in the proposed ordinance are inaccurate.

The Board of Fire Commissioners of Keasbey and Protection Fire Co #1 of Keasbey are both opposed to this ordinance and wish to continue our 118 years service to the residents of Keasbey.

How can you help?
- A local resident has started an online petition to stop this process. We ask that you review it and sign the petition if you agree.
- A public hearing will be held on August 12 at 6PM at the Woodbridge Twp Municipal Building. We ask that you attend the hearing and make your voice heard.
