Funerals for Vets is a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation, founded by a disabled Veteran concerned about other Veterans whose families may find themselves unable to afford the costs of a proper funeral. Funerals For Vets is a 501(c)(3) organization founded by Scott R. The company was founded in 2014 to help families of veterans offset the high cost of funerals for their loved ones. The company’s main focus is to make sure that all veterans are buried with full military honors regardless of their ability to pay. A company founded by veterans for veterans, Funerals for Vets will, to the best of its ability, use veterans to run the organization in order to provide as much help and support to veterans as possible. A committee comprised of veterans who understand veterans’ needs, will make all decisions on qualifications of the applicants and the extent of services offered. The company will, to the best of its ability, help any and all honorably discharged veterans pay funeral expenses when the family cannot afford to pay. Homeless veterans who deserve a military funeral will also get the funeral they deserve as will veterans with no family. The process is fairly simple. A completed application is required before any monies will be distributed. Once the application is completed, the review committee will go over the application and make a determination of qualification. In some cases, an applicant may be required to pay for the funeral and then be reimbursed by Funerals for Vets. There will be a limit to the amount of money provided based on the average cost of a funeral in certain areas. Funerals for Vets will work closely with local funeral homes to ensure our offered services and payment amounts are clear. Available benefit details and information from the Veterans Administration (VA) will be itemized and provided to the applicants to assist them in planning the funerals. Veteran organization provide all honor guard services at a veterans funeral. Funerals for Vets will assist these organizations with the costs associated with any services they provide. As a legitimate non-profit organization, Funerals for Vets will hold fundraisers, apply for grants, and solicit donations from the public to ensure that sufficient funds are available to provide the services we offer. Donations may be eligible for tax-deductible status; statements will be provided for those requesting them.
