The seeds of the Nebraska Fish & Game Association (NEFGA) were planted in August of 2006 when a small group of outdoor enthusiasts founded the Nebraska Fishing and Hunting Forum. The goal was to promote community, involvement, and education around outdoor Nebraska. Still going strong today, “the forum” is a great place to share stories, give advice and learn something new from the 4,000 plus membe
rs. Now, more than five years later the mission of the organization remains the same - Connecting Nebraska's outdoors enthusiasts through community, involvement, and education in a way that ensures outstanding angling and hunting opportunities for today and future generations. The mission is the same but HOW the mission is carried out has evolved. NEF...GA has grown and developed into a non-profit organization that was granted 501(c)(3) tax exempt status from the IRS. This has allowed NEFGA to enjoy the benefits of being tax exempt and has given them the resources to take their mission “into the field”. NEFGA has been active in park clean ups, recycling efforts, and youth mentoring programs. NEFGA is now challenging itself with new and innovative ways to continue its mission. Three standing goals propel NEFGA forward in the coming years. First, NEFGA will grow and maintain the premier online community for Nebraskans who love fishing and hunting. Second, NEFGA will foster involvement among its community members in outdoor conservation, stewardship, and recruitment of the next generation. Finally, NEFGA will provide quality outdoor education that develops knowledgeable sportsmen and women across Nebraska.
