Fair Share Farm - Community Supported Agriculture

Fair Share Farm - Community Supported Agriculture Local eater supported agriculture, using organic practices to maintain healthy soil, grow healthy food, and feed healthy people.

Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) is a partnership of consumers and farmers. The member shareholders provide a guaranteed market and income, as well as labor, to produce and distribute the food for a growing season. The farmers provide weekly shares of fresh, seasonal, certified organically grown vegetables, fruits, and herbs. Both partners share in the risks and rewards of small-scale farming

: weather, insect damage, and bumper crops. Families and individuals who join the CSA receive a share of produce every week during the growing season (mid-May through October). In exchange, members sign a contract for the season, agree to pay in advance, and help with some of the work of harvest and distribution of the food. CSA members also receive:

*a connection to where their food comes from
*a chance to meet other members during farm work, distribution days, and special events.
*security in the knowledge that your food dollars are supporting the future of a local farm committed to sustainable agriculture

We thought we were going to be out of the 97 degree days by now, but there is still a good 10 days forecast of the same. While our Napa cabbage is growing well, these persistent high temps can wreck havoc. Napa will begin to flower, rather than heading up, in conditions like this. We have covered the crop with shade cloth to help these crops during this critical time in their growth cycle. Welcome to the new normal.

And, we will see you Overland Park Farmers Market tomorrow, 7:30am to 1pm. And next week we will be Brookside Farmers' Market
