To Our Community,

I want to share an important update with you. After much discussion and reflection, the PFLAG Kearney board has made the decision to dissolve our chapter.

This was not an easy decision. I am so thankful for the support and resources PFLAG National has provided during my time as president, but we recognize that the PFLAG model isn’t the right fit for Kearney right now. Our chapter has also faced challenges that have made it difficult to serve in the way our community deserves, and after a lot of conversation, we feel this is the right step forward.

Even though this chapter is coming to an end, I want to be clear: I am not giving up on Kearney. This community means so much to me, and I believe with my whole heart that LGBTQ+ people and their families here deserve safe, supportive spaces where they feel seen, celebrated, and cared for. I don’t yet know exactly what the future will look like, but I know I’m not done showing up for you.

Thank you for standing beside us, for trusting us, and for being the reason this work matters. While this chapter is closing, my commitment to Kearney’s LGBTQ+ community is not.

WHAT TO EXPECT
1. Everyone will be numbered in the best way to create groups of 3-4 people.
2. Each group will have 10-15 minutes to discuss each person’s answer to the given prompt.
3. Rotate and meet new people!

CONVERSATION PROMPTS
1. If all animals were the same size, what would win in a fight?
2. What can you talk about for hours?
3. If you could have an unlimited supply of one thing, what would it be and why?
4. What’s your favorite useless fact? Do you remember how or why you learned it?

BREAKING NEWS: We’re SUING TRUMP! 🏛️🏳️‍⚧️🏳️‍🌈
PFLAG National—along with transgender young adults and families with transgender youth and GLMA—is serving as a plaintiff in a federal legal challenge against the executive order from the Trump administration attempting to shut down nationwide access to necessary medical care for transgender people under 19.

We have always said it—and always meant it—that PFLAG National will NEVER back down in supporting each and every one of our family members. NOW, with the incredible work of our legal teams at ACLU, Lambda Legal, ACLU of Maryland, and law firms Hogan Lovells and Jenner & Block, we are taking powerful action.

📢🌈Friday, January 31st the Nebraska Legislature will be holding a hearing to allow Nebraska voters to amend the Nebraska Constitution with language recognizing
marriage and authorizing the issuance of marriage licenses to couples regardless
of gender and race.
