Ray Kendall completes intense training sessions, lifting heavy weights while pushing himself past his limits - all with a prosthetic leg. The Kansas City-area native is now competing on an international stage in the 2026 Adaptive CrossFit Games.

KEARNEY — Avery Janiak, a 2026 Kearney High School graduate, is preparing to head to Annapolis, Maryland, to begin six weeks of basic midshipman training during “Plebe Summer” at the U.S. Naval Academy. She starts next Thursday, June 25.

What an incredible way to mark the 25th anniversary of Shoes for Orphan Souls! The Kearney Rotary Club is thrilled to have played a part, contributing 71 pairs of shoes, 25 pairs of socks, and $1,300 to the cause. Our district set a bold goal of 25,000 shoes, and together with all the clubs across District 6040, we absolutely shattered it by collecting 29,000. It is a privilege to know that our combined efforts are delivering tangible dignity and hope to thousands of children in need.
