When pets are abandoned or left behind all they know is their family and routine they know is gone. They don't know why and they mourn the loss same as if their people died. Only this is worse, they are left by the person that they thought loved them. After over 30 years in rescue I will never understand how someone can do this ...
This boy is sad, terrified, and has no idea his life will improve when someone is found that will be responsible and love him for life. He is a young adult, super friendly, yet since he just arrived, hides in the corner of his space and craves attention. He has not felt comfortable enough to eat or explore, but allows hugs and comfort.
He was dumped in his carrier at a neighbor's house. No food, no medical records, and with the information we were given we could not locate any past information.
The neighbor's were told he could be let outside since they couldn't take them into their home. Wrong! You NEVER relocate a cat and expect it to be ok in a new environment! He was scared and immediately looked to hide eventually going back in his carrier. Then we were contacted.
It's actually harder and more expensive for a rescue to take in a cat without proof of neuter, testing and vaccines without prior records. IF they are neutered and we don't have proof they take up a spot at our clinic that a cat truly needing to be neutered needs. We have to vaccinate, deworm, deflea and test for fiv/felv as well as microchip. This costs about the same to the rescue that an eventual adoption fee will eventually pay for not including food, litter, and space most of us just don't have.... And also means another cat on the street that truly needs that spot loses it indefinitely.
This boy will be ok. We will somehow find him placement in a rescue that has no available fosters or funds at the moment. But know you have caused others to have to wait that really needed the appointments and spots that are safe.
He seems good with children and needs more attention than we can give him in an already full foster. Since he just came in he needs vetting, but as soon as that is done he will need a responsible, loving home. If you can give him time to get over his terrible loss and fear, hug him to console him, provide a safe environment and commit to loving him please fill out an application here:
