Sophat’s education ended in the 8th grade. For many, poverty doesn’t just take your seat in the classroom. It dictates your future.

Sophat was a single mother of four and was responsible for caring for her 81-year-old mother. She was also the owner of a grocery stall that was slowly sinking under a mountain of debt.

She was working harder than ever, yet falling further behind.

The turning point wasn't a handout; it was a conversation. When Sophat met her mentor, Vorn Sarin. Through business training, Sophat learned the mechanics of income tracking and debt management. She stopped guessing and started calculating.

The results are written in her ledger: In just one year, Sophat tripled her monthly income.

She didn't just "pay off" her debt; she eliminated it.

Her children are in school, passing the 8th-grade milestone that once stood as Sophat's own ceiling.

Everything changed when Regina was introduced to her mentor, Chifundo. Through the Giving Machine project, Regina received the business training she needed to turn her small savings into a thriving snack business. When her goats arrived, she knew exactly how to manage them as a business asset.

Today, Regina’s income has doubled! She’s already used her earnings to pay her daughters' school fees and to buy her very own sewing machine to start a tailoring business.

Regina’s hard work is ensuring her children have the health and education they deserve. We are so proud of her journey to greater self-reliance! 🐐🧵📖
