🌺 Does your ʻohana have an Emergency Action Plan?

With everything happening around us, now is a good time to ask:

If an emergency happened today, would everyone in your ʻohana know what to do?

Do you have:

* A family meeting place?
* Emergency contacts written down?
* A plan for your keiki and kūpuna?
* Important medications and documents ready?
* Food, water, flashlights, batteries, and basic supplies?
* A “grab-and-go” bag packed?
* A plan for your pets?
* A way to communicate if cell service goes down?

You don’t have to panic — just prepare. ❤️

Taking a little time now to make an emergency “get ready” list can make a big difference when every minute counts.

Talk with your ʻohana today. Make a plan. Write it down. Be ready.

🌺 Prepared ʻohana help build a stronger, more resilient community.

A hui hou to the incredible team at Red Lightning ❤️

There are not enough words to fully express the gratitude our community feels for each and every one of you. You showed up for Molokaʻi during one of the hardest moments many families have faced and met our people with compassion, humility, hard work, and genuine aloha.

From the long days of mucking homes, hauling debris, checking in on kūpuna, listening to stories, sharing meals, offering hugs, and simply being present… your impact went far beyond the physical work. You brought hope, comfort, and reminded so many that they were not alone.

You left footprints all across this island, but more importantly, you left a mark on the hearts of our community that will not be forgotten.

Mahalo for serving with no ego, for loving our people so deeply, and for embracing Molokaʻi like your own home. Safe travels back to your families and communities. You will always have ʻohana here.

Until we meet again, a hui hou 🤍

🌿 Your voice matters, Molokaʻi 🌿

Molokai Cares is asking our community to participate in our updated Needs Assessment Survey. This optional survey helps us better understand the most recent and ongoing needs across our island so we can continue coordinating support, resources, partnerships, and future efforts.

Please feel free to share as much or as little as you’d like. While we may not be able to assist with every individual need, we are actively working alongside partners and organizations to help elevate the concerns and needs of our entire community.

This survey also serves as an important advocacy piece as we continue conversations around long-term community support and resources.

A meaningful day for Molokaʻi CARES. Mahalo nui to Senator Lynn DeCoite for presenting this check on behalf of Hawaiian Council and for continuing to advocate for our island community in real, tangible ways.

And an especially huge shoutout to Hawaiian Council for all that they have done for our community. The intentionality behind their support, their presence, and their willingness to truly listen to the needs of our people has created opportunities and resources for Molokaʻi in ways we never even fathomed could be possible.

In moments of recovery and rebuilding, partnerships rooted in care, trust, and action matter deeply. We are incredibly grateful to walk alongside organizations and leaders who continue to show up for our community with aloha and purpose.

From all of us at Molokaʻi CARES, mahalo for believing in Molokaʻi and our people.

From Molokaʻi to Florida, mahalo nui loa to The White Daisy Quilt Shop in Punta Gorda and Jeff Silvers for sending over nine absolutely beautiful handmade quilts to support families in need here on Molokaʻi.

In the middle of recovery, it’s often the thoughtful and personal gestures that mean the most. These quilts are more than blankets. They carry warmth, comfort, care and the reminder that people we may have never met are still holding our community in their hearts.

We are deeply grateful for your generosity, kindness and aloha shown from across the country. These quilts will be gifted to families who truly need a little extra comfort right now, and we know they will be cherished.

Mahalo for wrapping our community in love.

Tonight’s assessment training with MEMA, GEM, and OOR was about more than just forms and data collection. It was about equipping our volunteers with the tools, knowledge, and confidence to better serve our community when it matters most.

Every assessment completed helps paint a clearer picture of what our families are facing and helps activate the support and recovery resources our island needs.

This is not a one-time effort. We are building resilience, strengthening relationships, and making sure our own people are equipped to move intentionally, together, for Molokaʻi.

Mahalo to everyone who showed up tonight ready to learn, serve, and stand for our community.
