Kaufman County Fire Marshal’s Office is introducing a new way to notify 911 dispatch and your local fire department about your controlled outdoor burn. Go to www.kaufmancountypermits.com to create an account and submit your request for an open burn permit. There is no cost for this permit and you will receive an approval within one business day. Your permit will be valid for one year. When you are ready to activate your burn permit for the day, call or text 469-595-8899. The system will not let you activate your burn permit if there is a burn ban or a red flag warning. Our dispatchers and fire departments have access to see a map that shows the burn permits that are activated. If you don’t have internet or need assistance applying, you may call (469-376-4122) or visit our office during normal business hours. We’ll be glad to assist.
