The Al Martinez Legacy Fund Our mission is simple: to grow futures, honor a legacy, and give FFA students the support they need to chase their dreams and create their own legacy.

The Al Martinez Legacy Fund was created to honor the life and legacy of Al Martinez, a passionate advocate for youth, agriculture, and the National FFA Organization (FFA) program. This fund exists to support and empower the next generation of leaders by providing scholarships to students involved in National FFA Organization (FFA). Through donations, fundraising events, and merchandise sales, we aim to continue Al’s vision of investing in young people who share his love for agriculture, leadership, and service. Each scholarship applicant is invited to reflect on the question, “What legacy do you hope to leave behind?”: a prompt inspired by Al’s own desire to leave a meaningful mark on the world.

The Texans are taking on the Chargers tonight in their first preseason action of 2026. Al loved the Texans and would be excited to see what they have in store this season.

What are you looking forward to this Texans season, and what are some of your favorite Texans memories with Al?

Reminiscing today… really missing my Friday lunches with Al.

Every week I’d ask him where he wanted to go, and he’d throw out something like “I’m good with whatever.” Funny how “whatever” always ended up being Midway Jr’s. Brisket sandwiches, fries… and his must-have side of sausage. My mission every time was to steal as many pieces from his plate as I could get away with.

We’d sit there cutting up, laughing until we couldn’t breathe. Talking Astros baseball like we were on the payroll—breaking down strategy, lineups, all of it. Those conversations meant more than I probably realized at the time.

Fridays look a little different now, but man… I’ll always cherish those moments.
