Waller County Residents: You are invited to attend a Disaster Preparedness Clinic on Tuesday, August 26 2025!

The first 50 households who register and attend, will receive disaster supplies + emergency, disaster food + $25 gift card to HEB + Individual Preparedness Training!

This is a free Disaster Preparedness Clinic, however registration and attendance are required to receive the free supplies, gift card and training.

August and September are the most active months of Hurricane Season for our Texas Gulf Coast Area. Being prepared is the first step to disaster recovery.

Thank you to the Alzheimer's Support Group of Richmond-Rosenberg for hosting a disaster preparedness training for your members!

The Richmond-Rosenberg Alzheimer's Support Group offers support to caregivers, family, and friends affected by Alzheimer's and other dementias in the Richmond, Rosenberg, and surrounding areas. The group is a collaboration between Faith UMC, St. John's UMC, and the Alzheimer's Association.

The months of August and September have the highest Atlantic storm activity for the Texas Gulf Coast. If you have been putting it off, now is the time to make sure you are prepared for your own home/family, but also prepared to help others if needed.

You are invited to attend a disater preparedness and disaster response training in Sugar Land, with 2 dates/times to choose from.

Date/time: August 14th 5:00-7:30 p.m. OR August 24th 12:30-3:30 p.m.

Topics to be covered are:
*Individual Preparedness
*Mucking (clean out)
*Gutting (removing damaged interior walls, floors, etc)
*Compassionate Care (caring for the person impacted by disaster)

Both sessions above will cover the same 4 topics, there is no need to attend both sessions.

Be prepared for and aware of the dangers of thunderstorms.

Thunderstorms are dangerous storms with lightning that can produce disasterous situations. A lightning strike can kill you and they can cause fires. In addition, thunderstorms often bring powerful winds that can knock down trees, power lines, and mobile homes. Thunderstorms can also produce intense rainfall that causes flash floods, tornadoes, as well as damaging hail.

Different parts of the country may experience thunderstorms this week.

Thunderstorms often produce lightning capable of striking objects up to 10 miles away. If you hear thunder or see lighting flash, it's best to head inside.

Remember: when thunder roars, go indoors!
