On April 24th, our Speech and Debate Banquet marked the close of an incredible academic year. We came together to celebrate a season filled with tournaments, districts, finals, and—most importantly—growth, learning, and unforgettable experiences.
Our seniors leave behind an extraordinary and lasting legacy on the Tompkins Speech and Debate team. Through their unwavering dedication, passion, and leadership, they didn’t just compete—they set the standard. At every tournament, they elevated the team with their talent, determination, and composure, inspiring those around them to rise higher and strive further.
Their influence extends far beyond trophies and titles. They helped shape the heart of this program—building a culture rooted in excellence, confidence, and unity. Through mentorship, encouragement, and leading by example, they have left a mark that will continue to guide and inspire long after graduation. While saying goodbye is never easy, we do so with deep gratitude and immense pride, excited for all that their future holds.
This year stood out as a truly major milestone for our program as the Booster Club launched scholarships for the very first time—an exciting and impactful step that recognizes student excellence while meaningfully investing in their future success. We also celebrated our students through a meaningful honor cords ceremony, enjoyed heartfelt and hilarious fun awards, and captured unforgettable memories at the photo booth. From recognition to laughter, the evening reflected the true spirit, unity, and energy of our Speech and Debate family.
The night was filled with laughter, cheers, and celebration—but also deep emotion as our incredible Coach West announced that she will be moving on to the next chapter of her journey. Coach West has been the heart of this program, consistently going above and beyond to mentor, support, and uplift every student she worked with. Her passion, dedication, and belief in her students have shaped not only skilled competitors, but confident speakers and thoughtful leaders.
Her impact is immeasurable. From countless hours of preparation to steady guidance and encouragement, Coach West has built a legacy that will live on in every speech, every round, and every student she has influenced. While she will be deeply missed, the strong foundation she leaves behind will continue to carry this program forward.
We are also deeply grateful for our amazing Coach Kestler, whose continued leadership keeps our program strong and moving forward with purpose. Alongside the unwavering support of our dedicated parents, we are confident that Tompkins Speech and Debate will continue to grow, thrive, and reach even greater heights in the years ahead.
