Lauren Cochran’s favorite memory with Katy Aquatics was traveling with the team and celebrating after meets by going out for ice cream or to the water park together.
She really enjoys “the excitement that the team brings at meets and with racing,” and that “the team pushes you to perform your best while still keeping it fun.” She joined Katy Aquatics when she was 11 and now intends to swim at Rice University and study Electrical Engineering. We are all wishing you the best!

This past weekend, 185 swimmers represented Katy Aquatics at the Aggieland Invitational (April 17–19). What a fantastic way to kick off the long course season—great racing, strong performances, and team spirit all around. Go KATY!

Riley Potter joined Katy Aquatics at 9 years old and now plans to swim at Texas Christian University, majoring in biology. His favorite memory with the team was the trip to San Antonio and Schlitterbahn. He would want to tell younger swimmers to “enjoy your time while you are younger, and get out of your comfort zone.”

Over the weekend, 25 KATY swimmers competed in the Gulf Open Water Zone Qualifying Meet - five qualified for the 2026 Southern Zone Open Water Championships. Congratulations to Forest Dark, Beckett Wernig, Alex Qin, Isabel Cabanzo, and Kirsten Engwall for making the Gulf Team! In two weeks they will take on other LSCs in the Gulf hosted Southern Zone Championship meet - way to represent, Katy Aquatics!

Holly Finley currently swims for Coach Valerie, and her favorite memory is going to the ice cream shop and getting to know the girls. A message she would give to younger swimmers is “...remember to enjoy your sport. Regardless of the setbacks you may face, or anything that might have you questioning your journey, the best thing to do is shift your focus to the fun.”
Finley is planning on majoring in biology and continuing to swim in college!

More than just times and medals, this season has been about building lasting friendships, supporting one another, and growing together as a team.

Will Robert Angulo’s favorite memory with Katy Aquatics was his first competition, hearing his teammates call out his name to cheer him on.
If he could give advice to younger swimmers, he would say: “progress is not always loud or fast, but it is always happening if you stay consistent. There will be days when you feel tired, frustrated, or like you are not improving, but those are the days that matter the most. Focus on small details: your technique, your breathing, your mindset because those are what build long-term success. Don’t compare yourself to others; everyone grows at their own pace. Most importantly, enjoy the process.”
Angulo was 13 when he first joined our team and now plans to attend Texas A&M University!

Katy Aquatics would like to invite you to our annual Make a Splash water safety event for the community on Saturday, May 2nd, 2026 from 9:30 AM - 12:30 PM at Tompkins High School Natatorium. Register for a free swim lesson (for ages 3+ years), learn how to wear a lifejacket, play games, get your face painted, and learn about water safety. We look forward to seeing you there!

This week’s Senior Sunday! Brayan Torres joined Katy Aquatics at 17 but quickly learned that, “Being part of this team has shown me that [it] is not just about swimming but is about having discipline, and having a good connection with your teammates and coaches.” He plans to swim in college and urges younger swimmers to, “talk and trust your coaches. If you ever feel discouraged remember that hard work pays off and that slow progress has to happen in order to succeed.”
Now, he plans to swim at Quincy University!

Proud to be certified by USA Swimming as a recognized club in the USA Swimming Safe Sport Club Recognition Program.

This program allows clubs to demonstrate a strong commitment to creating a healthy, positive environment free from abuse for all members—through effective governance, clear Safe Sport policies and reporting mechanisms, and ongoing education for athletes and parents.

We’re grateful to our coaches, swimmers, and families for helping us uphold these standards and keep our community safe and strong.
