šØšØ SPRING FERTILIZERāKATY AREAšØšØ
In our area most lawns are warm-season grasses like Bermuda, St. Augustine, and Zoysia. These grasses go dormant during winter and start actively growing in spring.
The best time to apply spring fertilizer is once the lawn is fully green and out of dormancy.
Recommended timing:
Late March through April.
Fertilizing too early while the lawn is still brown or partially dormant can cause stress to the grass and waste fertilizer.
Spring fertilizer helps:
⢠Promote thick green growth
⢠Strengthen the root system
⢠Help the lawn recover from winter dormancy
⢠Prepare the lawn for summer heat
Most lawns only need about 1 pound of nitrogen per 1,000 square feet during the spring application.
If you are unsure whether your lawn is ready, wait until it has been mowed at least once or twice after it greens up.
