Craft supply swap: what do you all think?
I noticed that the local library (Cinco Ranch) expanded its scope recently and started holding swaps (such as plant or costume swaps); I think it's a great move, and everyone involved says those are so fun and helpful. I started thinking about yet another type of swap (arts, crafts and extra supply), which is likely to be approved. It has a potential for many good things: artists and craftsmen exhibiting and swapping their creations, exchange of arts and crafts for extra supplies that everybody has and are often thrown out, support of local teachers (who go through a lot of craft supply and always need more) as well as free art and craft tutorials for library visitors; there is even potential for small repairs at no charge. Before I try to secure a spot for such a meeting or even get a general okay for this type of meet from the library administration, I would love to gauge the public interest. Please let me know what you think.

This time, we are trying two new things: an Everybody Wins raffle and our own One and Only Dollar Store. We want everyone to have some new ways to enjoy shopping, in spite of inflation and uncertainty ❤️🧡💛

The 2025 summer street fair season is officially open! Last summer we made many wonderful new friends while making our fairs happen; that makes us really look forward to the new season and everything it may bring. Meanwhile, our group is working hard trying to make the coming Fair as smooth and exciting as possible. See you in about a week!

I am looking to schedule a meetup, tentatively next Sunday around noon. Stuff for giveaway is: toddler toys, two walkers, baby clothing and some books. I will bring craft projects as usual.

One of the things I love about the swap meeting is, it really streamlines the donation process. I can bring a mixed bag of stuff including books, clothes, toys, utensils etc. and know they will be taken by other folks or donated to appropriate local charities. Our ladies know the needs and requirements of each charity and will take leftovers where they will be put to good use. In future, I am hoping we can add library function (for borrowing items which are needed just occasionally or once) and simple repair shop. The latter, in addition for being helpful, will be really fun for attending kids.
