We were honored to be invited to the Chevron Birdies for Charity luncheon following the Texas Children’s Houston Open. It's always special to celebrate so many impactful organizations in our community. Thanks to your amazing support during the fundraising period, The Graeme McDaniel Foundation received a $26,600 donation to fuel our vital research projects this summer. We are incredibly grateful for your dedication to our mission and cannot wait to see what we will accomplish together next year!

What an incredible day for the Foundation! 💙

We held our annual grant application review meeting this morning to dive into 45 new research applications. As we embark on our 5th round of grant funding, we are reminded of how lucky we are to have such an expert team of cardiac specialists in our corner.

A heartfelt thank you to our Board of Directors and our MRT—Dr. Prakash, Dr. Lin, Dr. Morris, Dr. Hoganson, and Dr. Overbey—for your dedication to advancing care for the CHD population. We can’t wait to share the upcoming projects with you all!

What an absolutely incredible day spent on Capitol Hill with this group. We shared our stories with members of Congress and the fact that congenital heart defects (CHDs) remain severely underfunded. With over 2.5 million Americans living with lifelong CHDs, the need is great.

We just shared 45 research projects with The Graeme McDaniel Foundation's Board of Directors (BoD) and Medical Review Team (MRT). We will meet next month to review and determine what the generous funds you donated will support this year. This is the day we have been waiting for all year!

It's an honor to reintroduce our MRT. This team has grown each year, and we are extremely grateful that they are sharing their expertise and time with us. This group of talented cardiologists are in charge of reviewing each congenital heart defect research grant application that is submitted to the Foundation. During the annual review process, the MRT helps the BoD evaluate the projects in contention for the foundation’s funding. As a group, we will identify the projects that we believe have the greatest impact to the heart community and most closely align with our mission.

We are extremely grateful for MRT’s investment in the heart community and time given to support this effort. Thank you, Doctors Lin, Hoganson, Morris, Overbey, and Prakash!

Eleven years ago, our world changed. Losing our little boy, Graeme, changed us in every possible way. In our grief, we made him a promise — that his life would spark something bigger, something that would help other heart warriors and families walking the same road. Graeme was the 1 in 100 babies born with a congenital heart defect, and because of him, we found our purpose.

We never imagined The Graeme McDaniel Foundation would be part of our story, but today we can’t imagine life without it. And because of YOU, more than $1.8 million in CHD research has been funded nationwide in just four years. Being a volunteer-led Foundation, every dollar goes straight to the mission. Every effort is driven by Graeme’s sweet face and the courage of the heart families who trust us with their stories.
