From one of the MUD board members:

"Last night the city of Houston had problems with some of their control valves that divert water to our water plant. All of our above ground water storage tanks ran low of water due to a main break in the district. We have one water well pump that is down due to mechanical issues, and our main well could not keep up. OMC (our operator) is currently working on the main break. They had to shut down the line serving a lot of residents due to this break and avoiding the rest of the district to be without water. I am one of those without water. The water came back on for a short time just to get us through the morning but is back off while they make repairs to the line. It is like everything happened all at once. We should be back in service soon. Our main well will be able to keep up once the break is fixed. The city of Houston is working on their problem."

This notice was included with our water bill this month. Heavy trash day is listed as Thursday. However, when I spoke with a representative yesterday, I was told it was Monday. I sent an email and hope to hear back after the weekend.

Per the Exterior Maintenance Guidelines approved in 2007: "No garbage or trash, or garbage or trash container, shall be maintained on a lot so as to be visible from any street adjacent to the lot or any adjacent lot at ground level except to make the same available for collection and then only the shortest time reasonably necessary to effect collection. Specifically, no garbage or trash, or garbage or trash container, shall be made available for collection earlier than 6:00 p.m. of the day before trash pick up or later than 7:00 p.m. of the day of trash pick up."

If your trash or recycling was missed during collection, Republic Services would prefer that you call them in order to receive the quickest response. The number is 281-446-2030. If you have complaints, they would also prefer a phone call. However, you can email them at cwesthouston@republicservices. You can send pictures and/or videos by corresponding that way. Please be courteous during communication. As a reminder, it is Fort Bend MUD 34 that is responsible for our account with Republic, not the HOA. Republic has emailed me a copy of the Houston Residential Trash Collection Guidelines. I have asked the management company to post this on our website. It is important that our bins are properly placed to prevent unsightly spills.

When contact is made, accounts are put on hold until it can be reviewed. Sometimes this is not until the next meeting. Board members receive copies of correspondence made by homeowners in meeting packets distributed to board members a few days before that time. Personal account issues will not be discussed on Facebook. Posts on Facebook are made to improve communication with our neighbors. Board member positions are completely voluntary. Name calling and personal insults of board members or employees of the management company will not be tolerated. Respectful communication is well-received.

The board has approved a Crime Watch Committee. We need a volunteer to lead the committee. The volunteer must take the Citzens Police Academy course. http://www.fortbendcountytx.gov/index.aspx?page=1271

The Fort Bend County Citizens Police Academy is intended for community members who wish to be more informed on local law enforcement issues as well as those contemplating a career in the field.
