May is Mental Health Awareness Month. This awareness is one of our deepest passions at PiH and a priority in our mission. Along with donations to assist members of our local community, one of our mission statements is to engage in local community events and raise the awareness to lower the long time stigma that comes with mental health.
Some of our strategies are sharing personal stories, providing emotional support, showing care, compassion, and empathy to every single person who may be struggling. As we like to say and is on our bracelets, “Be Kind to Your Mind”
As the Executive Director, I have a huge privilege to speak at events and honor to address diverse audiences. One of the points I always emphasize is “it’s ok, to not be ok”. That’s a very simple, but yet POWERFUL statement that I like to share.
Please be kind to your mind, be kind to others, and know there is help and assistance for you, family or friends that may need it. You are not alone and we are better together!
