The annual joint meeting of Kasson-Mantorville Lions & Dodge Center Lions was held at the ZED building this past Monday, on March 23 with a filled room.

Three KM LEO members gave their presentation on mental health issues for teens & students & it was good timing as they were planning to present this program for their upcoming FCCLA state project event.

The Hazukas prepared & served a delicious lasagna meal before the meeting and fun was had by all!

We had a wonderful monthly meeting this past Monday at ZED in Kasson.

- Two of our KM Schools LEO leaders - Elshana and Macy gave us a wonderful report/update of the amazing things that the students have been doing through FCCLA and how students and advisors are looking forward to great events and opportunities of growth and learning in the coming months.

- Our main speaker was our very own club member, Lion Jim Checkel. Jim talked about a new program involving medical students and teaching them about farm safety - farming being one of the most dangerous occupations with accidents, and such.

Jim has visited 48 countries, 37 states & has a very large collection of working mechanical jacks of over 600. He really is as the saying goes "a jack of all trades" 😊

- In the meeting, we also heard from another of our own members, Lion Brandon Buckingham. He shared with us about a great cause that he believes in and supports pretty heavily - Special Olympics, MN.

He is the Team Captain of Rochester Motor Cars' Polar Plunge Team which supports Special Olympics MN. His team was formed 19 years ago, and in that amount of time their team has raised over $500,000 for our Special Olympians right here in MN. In fact, the team was formed a few months before his son, Lincoln, was born with Down Syndrome.

Our all-members December meeting was held this last Monday, Dec 15 at the KM High School. Our 5M1 District Gov Mike Lunde from Pine Island, was the program speaker. His wife Nadine (a past 5M1 district governor was also in attendance).

Chuck Anderson was selected as our club Everyday Hero for 2025 & will be recognized at the 5M1 Lions Midwinter Convention in Rochester the middle of January. Chuck has had perfect attendance for 14 years (attended a club meeting and/or helped with a club project each month throughout the club year). He has been a flag captain for their route for the very successful Fly the Flag project.

Some of our KM LEO members were busy baking cookies & brought a large number to share with our club members at the meeting.

So much fun seeing LEO students serving in our community this past weekend. They rang bells for the Salvation Army in Kasson.

A handful of our lion members spent the day with them as well. πŸ›ŽοΈ πŸ›ŽοΈ πŸ›ŽοΈ πŸŽ… 🀢
