Hello, my name is Samanthah ♡
I am a 14-year cancer survivor. Cancer impacts more than just the patient. Northern Minnesota is {home}.

Our foundation exists to help cancer patients and their families defray medical-related costs so they can focus on what truly matters: healing, hope, and time together. ♡ In 2012, I was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma—a journey that forever changed my life and perspective. Walking through cancer showed me not only the weight of the diagnosis, but also the emotional, physical, and financial toll

it takes on patients and their families. Because of that journey, I started The Hand I Was Dealt Cancer Foundation in 2014. I founded this non-profit with one simple belief: no one facing cancer in Northern Minnesota should have to face it alone—or choose between medical care and basic needs. It affects entire families emotionally, physically, and financially. In our rural communities, those challenges are often magnified by long travel distances, time off work, lodging costs, and mounting medical bills. I saw the need for practical, immediate support—and felt called to do something about it. Cancer may have been the hand I was dealt—but compassion, resilience, and faith are how I chose to play it. Today, I am honored to give back, advocate for others, and turn my story into hope for those still fighting. These are our neighbors, our friends, our families and we are committed to walking alongside those impacted by cancer—one family at a time.

New year. New Look. Same mission. 💜

The lavender cancer ribbon is a symbol of unity, compassion, and hope. It represents ALL cancers and honors every journey touched by cancer—patients, survivors, caregivers, loved ones, and supporters alike.

Lavender reminds us that no one fights alone. It stands for strength in the face of uncertainty, resilience through the hardest days, and support that wraps around families and communities when cancer changes everything. This ribbon also recognizes the tireless love of caregivers and the courage of survivors who continue to inspire others.

Wearing or sharing the lavender ribbon is a way to say: we see you, we stand with you, and we will keep fighting together. It is a powerful reminder that awareness, empathy, and hope belong to everyone in the fight against cancer.

❤️ Hi, Hello, How are y’all?

Whew! It’s been a minute, actually an entire year. Last year flew by and it’s hard to believe it’s 2026!

A couple updates, housekeeping items, catch up things:
• We did not have a Dirty Thirty mud run in 2025 because well, life. And it felt good to just enjoy summer without the planning and worrying!
• We are still very much an active non-profit cancer foundation. More active outside of social media (I will work on that this year, whoops!).
• To everyone that donated over the holidays; thank you!

✨ If you or someone you know is going through a cancer journey, please message us, call us, email us, stop by, reach out! We are here to help!

I hope & pray 2026 is a healthy and happy year for each and every one of you. Thank you for being here supporting, donating - you’re helping cancer patients and their families.

🌟 T W E L V E • Y E A R S 🌟

12 years ago today, I was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. Today we celebrate the warriors who are fighting a tough and courageous battle, the survivors who won their battle and those that heartbreakingly have lost their battle.

Nobody fights alone.

Survivors grief is a real thing and although a majority of my days are positive there are the days I question why I survived and others did not. If you’re a survivor, just know these feelings are OK and you’re not alone.

To those on a cancer journey right now, YOU GOT THIS!! We send our support, love and strength to each and everyone of you. Don’t give up, keep positive and continue to fight one of the hardest battles you may ever have to fight. 🎗️

If you or someone you know is currently on a cancer journey, please share our page with them or give them our information. We are here to help!

📌 Also, our annual Dirty Thirty + 7 mud run is coming up in July. Details to be shared in the very near future. We hope to see you all there (and hopefully some new faces)!

💥 Dirty Thirty + 6: Superheros R Us 💥
Another incredible year in the (comic) books!! Wow!! Y’all really went all out this year, breaking records! We had a total of 103 people signed up and 47 machines. That’s wild! Unfortunately, with the lack of rain we should’ve named this year “Dirty Thirty + 6: The Dustbowl”. However, even with no water or mud, we hope everyone had a fun time!

Thank you to each and every one of you that came out and supported my foundation yesterday. It’s because of YOU that I get to continue my dream of helping cancer patients and their families in Northern Minnesota. All of the money raised yesterday goes directly to those on a cancer journey. I’m blown away by your generosity each and every year - your support is truly appreciated! It was so nice to see a lot of familiar faces and quite a few new ones too!

A big thank you to Dean & Desiree: You are the foundation of this ride and none of this would be possible without you! The amount of planning, running around, getting donations, setting up, etc does not go unnoticed. We appreciate all that you both do! You both put your heart and soul into this ride and it shows!

Thank you to Pat, The Bow & Dee: Thank you for opening your doors and being the place where all the fun begins. The hours of planning, setting up, providing a meal and always adding a little more fun to the day means a lot! Dee, your creative abilities always show each and every year! We appreciate all that you do whether it’s for our posters or shirts, you’re the best!

✨ To each and every business, person or private donation: THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!! The donations this year have left me speechless. The support you all have shown will go to help a lot of cancer patients and their families. Y’all blew last year out of the water (or dust - this year)!! My heart is forever full with the amount of support you all have given us over the years and continue to do so.

We look forward to seeing you & more, in 2024! 🖤🎗️

Mark your calendars!! 🗓️ We hope to see you there! Please share with all of your friends and family. ❤️
