We're Disappointed. We're Frustrated. And We Need Your Help..... It happened again.
For the second time, we've discovered large divots taken out of one of our putting greens. This isn't normal wear and tear. It isn't an accident. And it is completely unacceptable.
Greens are for putting only. They are the most delicate and carefully maintained surface on our entire course. Full swings, practice shots, or taking divots from a green should never happen.
What makes this especially discouraging is knowing how much time, knowledge, and care goes into keeping these greens in the condition they're in today. Our maintenance crew doesn't just mow the grass—they spend all year caring for these surfaces. From monitoring snow cover during the winter to prevent winter kill and snow mold, to fertilizing, watering, treating disease, repairing ball marks, and mowing with incredible precision, every green is the result of hundreds of hours of dedication.
Karlstad Golf Club is a non-profit, volunteer-supported course. Our board members, volunteers, sponsors, and maintenance crew work tirelessly to provide a course our community can be proud of.
When someone damages a green like this, it isn't just harming the turf—it is disrespecting every volunteer, every donor, every member, and every golfer who enjoys this course.
We're asking everyone to help protect what we've built together.
⛳ Greens are for putting—not practice swings.
⛳ Repair your ball marks.
⛳ Respect course etiquette.
⛳ If you see someone misusing the course, please help educate them or notify clubhouse staff.
The overwhelming majority of our golfers take tremendous pride in Karlstad Golf Club, and we're grateful for that. We simply cannot allow the actions of a few individuals to undo the hard work of so many.
Let's continue working together to keep Karlstad Golf Club one of the finest community courses in northwest Minnesota. Thank you for helping us protect it. 💚
