Our volunteer spotlight this time around is our Fire Chief Donny Jorgensen! Our Chief has served the town of Kansas and surrounding areas for many years. He can regularly be seen around town helping others in their worst times. He and his wife own Baker boutique in town. Years of service requires a dedication that can help not be sustained by having a supportive spouse and family. Chief Jorgensen is a paramedic, certified CPR instructor and certified to teach a multitude of classes for fire and EMS responders. The amount of people who have been helped and taught by Donny is unmeasurable.
Kansas Fire recognizes the commitment you and your family have made to the Kansas and surrounding areas and thanks you for all you do!

🔥 ATTENTION — BURN BAN EXTENDED 🔥

The Delaware County Burn Ban has been extended for an additional two weeks.
Due to continued dry conditions and an increased risk of fire, we ask everyone to please follow the burn ban and refrain from any outdoor burning during this time.
Even a small fire can quickly spread when conditions are dry. Please help us protect our community, homes, property, and first responders by taking this restriction seriously.
Please share this post to help spread the word.

Today, we pause to remember the lives forever changed on September 11, 2001.
Nearly 3,000 people lost their lives, and thousands more were injured. Among those who made the ultimate sacrifice were 343 firefighters, 72 law enforcement officers, approximately 311 EMS personnel, who answered the call that morning.
They ran toward danger while others were trying to escape.
Today, we honor those who lost their lives, those who were injured, and the families who continue to carry their memory. We also recognize the firefighters, law enforcement officers, EMS personnel, dispatchers, military members, bystanders, and countless others who stepped forward to help during one of our nation’s darkest days.
We remember their courage.
We remember their sacrifice.
We remember the lives that were lost.
September 11, 2001. Never Forgotten. 🇺🇸

Kansas Fire would like to take this time to remind everyone to call 911 for help. In your time of a medical emergency it is important to dial 911 to give Delaware County dispatch your location and nature of emergency so that they can get help started for you. In a medical emergency they may be able to give life saving instructions immediately while also getting help started to your location.

We’re always grateful for the strong working relationships we have with our neighboring departments. When the call comes in, it’s great knowing we can count on each other to work together and get the job done.
Thank you to both departments and all the firefighters who showed up and helped tonight. Your assistance is greatly appreciated!
