Last week, our SHRM-KC Mentorship Program participants came together for a fun tiki-themed social at Kon Tiki Kansas City!

With seven mentor-mentee pairs participating this year, the conversation highlighted one of the greatest strengths of mentorship: it’s never a one-way street. While mentees gain valuable guidance, perspective and support, mentors often share that they benefit just as much through fresh ideas, meaningful connections and the opportunity to give back to the HR profession.

A big thank you to everyone who continues to make the SHRM-KC Mentorship Program such a meaningful experience. We love seeing members of our HR community connect, learn from one another and grow together. 💙💛

Yesterday was a great afternoon of learning and connection at SHRM-KC!

Our September luncheon, Making Sense of the Employment Law Landscape, brought together Megan Costello, Kathy Nemechek, Sharon Stalbaumer and Alex De Masi of Berkowitz Oliver for a timely conversation about the employment law issues impacting today’s workplaces.

🌟 Mentorship in Action! 🌟

Meet Kelly Calvert and Jennifer McDonald, a SHRM-KC Mentoring Program pair whose experience shows that professional growth doesn’t stop when you reach a leadership role.

Jennifer joined the program while transitioning from Kansas to Missouri and stepping into a new leadership role with a new organization.

“I wanted to build a strong support system and connect with someone who could offer valuable experience and perspective as I navigated these changes. Kelly has been a phenomenal mentor, providing thoughtful guidance, encouragement and a trusted space to discuss professional opportunities and challenges. I am especially grateful that our mentoring relationship has grown into a meaningful friendship.”

For Kelly, now working with her third mentee through SHRM-KC, the experience continues to be just as valuable.

“Serving as a SHRM-KC mentor has been such a rewarding experience. I continue to value the opportunity to support another chapter member’s growth while gaining fresh perspectives and strengthening my own coaching and leadership skills.
