🚨 EEO-1 Reporting Update

This week, the EEOC announced a proposal that could eliminate the federal EEO-1 reporting requirement (along with EEO-2 through EEO-6), potentially ending annual demographic reporting for many employers. The proposal is now open for public comment, with a hearing scheduled for August 11.

Here's what HR professionals should know:

✔️ Nothing has changed yet. This is a proposal—not a final rule.
✔️ The 2025 EEO-1 reporting cycle remains uncertain, so employers should continue preparing in case reporting is ultimately required.
✔️ State reporting requirements still apply. Federal changes would not affect state-specific reporting obligations, including Colorado's new state-level requirements.
✔️ Employers must still comply with Title VII and other anti-discrimination laws, regardless of any changes to EEO-1 reporting.

As this proposal moves through the rulemaking process, employers should continue monitoring both federal and state compliance requirements.

Great connections start locally. 🤝

Last week, members of SHRM of Kansas City, SHRM of Johnson County, and EPNKC (Employment Practices Network of Kansas City) came together for a Happy Hour hosted by IMA. It was a great evening of networking, collaboration, and building relationships across our local HR and employment community.

📢 HR Compliance Update

Effective July 1, 2026, the Kansas Consumer Prescription Protection and Accountability Act (SB 20) is now in effect, bringing new requirements for Pharmacy Benefit Managers (PBMs) that may impact employer-sponsored health plans.

If your organization offers a Kansas-regulated fully insured health plan—including some multi-state employers—it's worth reviewing how this law may affect your pharmacy benefits.

Key changes include:
✔️ 100% pass-through of manufacturer rebates to health plans
✔️ A ban on PBM spread pricing
✔️ New pharmacy dispensing fee requirements

Employers should consult with their insurance carrier, broker, or PBM to determine how SB 20 applies to their specific health plan.
