This past Saturday, May 9th, Safe-Hub Playmakers participated in the first of three workshop sessions focused on the history and future of Kensington.
A huge thank you to historian Walter Licht of the University of Pennsylvania for speaking with the students about the history of Kensington and the importance of reframing the narrative surrounding the community. His presentation inspired thoughtful conversations and a positive vision for the future.

Following the discussion, Playmakers created collages representing what they hope to see in the future of Kensington, centered around community, opportunity, creativity, and hope.

YC² spent the weekend in Philadelphia with the incredible team at Safe-Hub Philadelphia in Kensington. Together with their PlayMakers and staff, we explored youth leadership through creativity, collaboration, and big ideas for community change.

From building out community visions with LEGO to sharing project ideas and empowering young leaders, the experience reminded us how powerful it is when young people come together to imagine what their communities can become.
