🛠️ Computer acting up? Bring it to us on Monday!

Join us for the Monthly Computer Repair Event with Per Scholas Kansas City at the Digital Services and Support Center on the LAMP Campus, part of Digital Inclusion Week.

📅 Monday, October 5 (and the first Monday of every month)
⏰ 4 to 6 p.m.
📍 LAMP Campus, 1801 Linwood Blvd, Kansas City, MO. Park on Woodland, walk past the community garden, and enter the door facing Linwood.
✅ Free. Drop-ins welcome, no registration required.

Per Scholas can help with:
• Software support, user training and troubleshooting
• Windows and Mac issues
• Spyware removal
• Hardware diagnosis (they can't currently fix hardware damage like broken screens or keyboards)

This year's Digital Inclusion Week theme from National Digital Inclusion Alliance, "Sustain, Empower, Evolve: Building a Brighter Digital Future," reminds us that digital equity takes more than handing out devices. It takes a sustainable ecosystem of support, and free, hands-on help like this is part of it.

🎉 Celebrate Digital Inclusion Week with The Digital Services and Support Center! 🚀

This year's theme, from the National Digital Inclusion Alliance, is "Sustain, Empower, Evolve: Building a Brighter Digital Future," which serves as both a celebration of our community's resilience and a blueprint for the road ahead. Advancing digital equity requires more than handing out devices or accessing the internet; it needs a sustainable ecosystem of support.

This week, we're shining a light on amazing opportunities to engage with digital inclusion right here in Kansas City. Join us for events like the Computer Repair Event and the Digital Inclusion Learning Circle at the LAMP Campus! These activities exemplify our commitment to creating lasting partnerships (Sustain), providing access to necessary resources and comprehensive digital skills training (Empower), and implementing forward-thinking strategies for new technologies (Evolve).

Employee Spotlight: Meet Toni, Our Registration Manager at the Digital Services and Support Center! 🌟

From a career in computers to being the heart of our registration team, Toni's journey with the Digital Services and Support Center has been all about passion, dedication, and making magic happen. Toni joined our team through the AARP Senior Community Service Employment Program (SCSEP), which connects older adults with local employment opportunities.

🥰 "Getting to see people light up when they learn something new, it's like magic," Toni says. Whether assisting Ms. Carol with our computer classes or managing registrations, her positive spirit is infectious.

A travel enthusiast who adores Hawaii and Italy, Toni also finds joy in family gatherings and spending time at church. After a decade in the tech world, her biggest accomplishment isn't just mastering new skills herself, it's helping others do the same.

Here's where you can find Toni day to day:
- Digital Skills Training Classes: Monday–Thursday, 10am to Noon
- Carol's office, helping organize materials and setting up the classroom.

TalkBack/ChromeVox—screen readers that can describe onscreen content and read text out loud
Select-to-Speak—allows users to select a section of text to be read out loud
Magnification Tools—allow you to magnify all or part of your screen
Color Correction and Inversion—allow you to adjust colors for easier viewing

Tuesday Tech Tip: Master Your Phone's Do Not Disturb Schedule

Drowning in notifications? You can set up a recurring schedule so your phone automatically silences interruptions during the times that matter most.

📱 Android: Where to Find It
The exact location varies by phone, but look for Do Not Disturb in one of these places:

Settings, then Modes, then Do Not Disturb, OR
Settings, then Notifications, then Do Not Disturb, OR
Settings, then Sound and vibration, then Do Not Disturb

Once you find it, tap Schedule to set your times.
Set it for bedtime, work hours, or family dinner. Whatever works for you. Your phone will handle the rest.

Small change, big peace of mind.
