Not all Democrats are the same—and that includes the current opponent in this at large seat. You’ve got corporate Democrats who care more about giving your tax dollars to billionaires for stadiums, big private equity backed developments getting the green light from these same folks, and more data centers than one can count! 📈

And then you’ve got young progressives who stand with working people across our county. We’re the only one in this race who have vowed to not take corporate PAC money—because we won’t be bought. 🚫

We need new leadership in this seat and across Jackson County and Kansas City. Because when those currently office come to “help,” it’s often to take what little you already have. That changes with us and this August election! 👉 Donate to the work ahead: https://secure.actblue.com/donate/justice-horn-1

We just dropped a powerful new episode of We Keep Us Safe: The Movement.

In this conversation, we sit down with Mili Mansaray of The Kansas City Defender to talk about storytelling, media, and the power of controlling our own narratives.

Too often, our communities are talked about—but not spoken with. This episode challenges that. Mili breaks down what it means to build media rooted in truth, accountability, and community, and why that work matters now more than ever.

If you care about how our stories are told—and who gets to tell them—this is a conversation you need to hear.

Saturday in Kansas City, we showed up and stood on business at the No Kings Rally.

I had the honor of being invited by the Center to speak on behalf of —lifting up what we know to be true: we don’t need kings, cages, or control to be safe. We need each other.

From policing, to prisons, to ICE, to these so-called “temporary” trailer jails—they are all part of the same system that separates families, criminalizes our communities, and calls it safety.

But we’re not buying that lie.

We’re building something different.
Something rooted in accountability, care, and community power.
Something grounded in restorative justice and abolition.

Because real safety doesn’t come from punishment—it comes from people.

And today, we made that message clear:

Who keep us safe?
WE KEEP US SAFE.

Deep gratitude to the Missouri Workers Center for the invitation and to everyone who showed up, stood with us, and continues to organize for a future without cages.

As our Executive Director Amaia Cook reminded us—this fight doesn’t stop at rallies. It continues through action.

314 Day in full effect! ✊🏾❤️

Standing proud in the 314, where the culture, the struggle, and the love for community all run deep. As the host of We Keep Us Safe: The Movement podcast, I’m committed to lifting up the voices of the people and pushing conversations that build real safety in our communities.

Through the podcast and my work with Decarcerate KC, we’re challenging the system, organizing our people, and showing the world what it means when communities take care of each other.

This is bigger than a podcast. This is about healing, justice, and building power together.

Salute to everybody in the 314 putting in work for the people. Let’s keep building, organizing, and protecting our communities.
