The Western Bluecoats Field Hospital is a non-profit living history, educational organization in the Kansas City, MO Area. We do not represent an actual field hospital but rather a generic impression of the day-to-day life with the “Angels of the Battlefield”. We are proud company level members of the Muddy River Battalion and support the MRB in local and national level battles such as 150th Shilo
h and 150th Gettysburg. We encourage you to come to an event witness life in the camp and meet our staff. If we can’t talk you out of it then we can set-up an immersive experience for you. You show up and we will have you out fitted in proper attire. The Hospital Steward will answer any questions and walk you through. Part of you time will be on the battlefield assisting the wounded to the aid station. If you are a minor you must be accompanied by a guardian. Families, couples are welcome we will need advanced notice to secure all of your gear. By the end of you tour of duty you will have earned your keep and we charge nothing to first time guest. If you choose to return then we ask a nominal amount to cover food. If camping is not is the cards ask about our day trip program all of the fun and no listening to the surgeon’s snoring.
