Cleft parents are the best! This wonderful lady is just one little example of why.

Throughout the year, she has stepped up to lead raffle sales at several of our events—and she knows exactly how to build the excitement, work the room, and manage the moment. And when the fun was over? She stayed to help clean up, too.

We are so grateful for cleft parents who not only understand this mission personally, but continue to show up and help us move it forward. Thank you, Amanda Borchers, and all of the other wonderful cleft who are able and willing to step up and help!

Another volunteer shoutout!

Some people you work with are simply coworkers, and then there are those who become so much more. These lovely ladies have worked alongside our doctors through the years and, like so many others that night, showed up to support Forever Smiles Foundation.

This photo is just a snapshot of the incredible workforce of friends, colleagues, and supporters who gave their time to help make our gala possible. Many work in different areas and had no obligation to be there, they simply came because they care about the people involved and believe in the mission.

We are so grateful for every single person who showed up, jumped in, and helped us pull off such a special night. To all of our amazing Gala volunteers, we applaud you!

Another very special volunteer shoutout to Carlie Hurtt , Development Manager with Breakthrough T1D.

One of the things we love most about Kansas City is the way our nonprofit community supports one another. There is no gatekeeping. People show up, pitch in, and cheer for causes beyond their own because they understand that we are all stronger together.

Carlie was there from start to finish and did SO much. She jumped in, took ownership of whatever needed to be done, and handled task after task with energy, kindness, and an incredible willingness to help.

Thank you, Carlie, for showing up so wholeheartedly for Forever Smiles. This is what community looks like.

Another very special thank you goes to Christine Noonan Ryan “Chrissy”, Forever Smiles board member and event co-chair has literally given hundreds of hours (maybe thousands) to Forever Smiles. If you have attended any of our events you have been cheered on by Chrissy.

During her tenure on our board, she has been an integral part of every event, but especially our Gala, lending her generosity, impeccable style, endless energy and attention to detail to make the evening spectacular. And for the gala this year, she somehow did it all on crutches!

She opens her home for planning meetings, setup, storage and whatever else we manage to bring through her door. But Chrissy has never done this alone. Her family has been right there with us every step of the way. TR, Brooks and Ava Ryan, thank you for your help, your support and, most of all, for sharing your wonderful Chrissy with us.

Chrissy, Forever Smiles is better because of you, and we have been incredibly lucky to have you.

Another very special shoutout goes to the amazing Rachelle Walker and her team from Mazuma Credit Union .

“Many hands make light work” could truly be their motto. Rochelle showed up...and then her volunteers kept showing up, like a little army ready to help wherever needed.

They jumped in everywhere, anticipated what needed to be done, took direction beautifully, and somehow cleaned and organized as they went. Our day was easier and so much less stressful because they were there.

That spirit of service is such a reflection at Mazuma. Giving back is part of their culture, and they consistently invest their time and resources into nonprofits throughout Kansas City.

Mazuma doesn’t just talk about supporting our community. They show up.

Rochelle and team, thank you for showing up BIG for Forever Smiles. We are so grateful for every one of you.

There are so many thank-yous owed after this year’s Gala, but I have to start with these two.

For the second year in a row, Elizabeth Ann and Jenn Rueger took the lead on our silent auction, and the amount of time, thought, and care they poured into it was incredible. They spent multiple evenings doing mock setups, organizing every item for easy transport and event-day setup, and planning all of the beautiful little touches that made the auction not only easy to shop, but absolutely stunning.

So much of what guests saw that night looked effortless because of all the work they put in long before the doors ever opened.

Liz and Jen, thank you for your time, your creativity, your friendship, and for caring so deeply about Forever Smiles. We are beyond grateful for both of you.
