Election Day is tomorrow, Tuesday, August 4th.

I’m proud to support Eric Dickinson for Jackson County Legislator, 2nd District. Eric has been a consistent presence in our community, investing in our youth, building relationships, and working to make Jackson County a better place for everyone.

We need leaders who understand that safer neighborhoods, greater opportunities for our young people, and responsible leadership all go hand in hand. I believe Eric will continue to be a strong voice for the citizens of the 2nd District and for all of Jackson County.

What an incredible evening at the 8th Annual Kansas City People’s Choice Awards! ✨

I had the pleasure of sharing the night with my favorite date, my beautiful mother Therssa Watson. ❤️ Moments like these become memories that last a lifetime.

A huge shoutout to my guy for over 30 years, Terrell Ray for creating such a first-class event that continues to celebrate and elevate the very best of Kansas City. It was an honor for Mentality by Michael Watson to be a sponsor of an evening dedicated to recognizing the greatness throughout KCMO & KCK.

One of my favorite parts of the night was simply looking around the room. Seeing so many beautiful Black people gathered in one place, dressed with elegance, confidence, and class like only WE can. Everyone looked like royalty. It was a powerful reminder that excellence isn’t just about what we accomplish, it’s also about how we show up, support one another, and celebrate each other’s success.

Congratulations to all of the nominees, finalists, winners, honorees, performers, and everyone who helped make the evening so special. Kansas City, you represented in a major way! 👏🏾🖤

What an incredible weekend for MENTALITY by Michael Watson and Lady MENTALITY by Michael Watson!

A huge congratulations to MENTALITY 2033 on winning back-to-back championships at the Cowtown National Tournament! Championship MENTALITY was on full display all weekend long.

Another huge shout out to Coach Vic and our Lady MENTALITY 7th Grade team on bringing home a championship as well! Even more special, they had to battle their sister team in the championship game. It was an intense, competitive matchup that showcased just how much BOTH teams have grown. I’m incredibly proud of the strides these young athletes have made over the past year. The commitment, hard work, basketball IQ, and confidence continue to grow every single week. This is what development looks like.

LADY MENTALITY 2029 also came home with the SHIP today! Shoutout to Director and Coach !

Another Saturday on the hardwood, and I couldn’t be more proud of our LADY MENTALITY by Michael Watson family! 🏀💙
The wins are great, but what excites me most is seeing the growth. The Basketball IQ is improving, the skill development is showing, and the confidence continues to build. You can tell our coaches are putting in the work, and these young ladies are embracing the process.
That’s what summer basketball is all about, getting better day by day, week by week. The future is bright!

Happy 68th Birthday to the woman who made me who I am… my mother. ❤️🎉

There are not enough words to describe how much you mean to me. Growing up, you were my first teacher, my biggest supporter, my protector, my provider, and sometimes my personal FBI agent when I thought I was getting away with something. 😂

I have watched your strength and resilience my entire life. No matter what obstacles stood in front of you, you always found a way to make a way. Looking back now, I realize there were times when things were probably much harder than you ever let me see, but somehow we always had what we needed. To me, that felt like a miracle. As a kid to me, you were God! You would turn “we don’t have it” into “it’s taken care of” overnight.

Your heart has always been bigger than your circumstances. You have loved me unconditionally, prayed for me constantly, celebrated my victories, and stood beside me during my toughest moments. There is no version of my life where I become the man I am today without you.

If it were up to me and I had to choose my mother all over again, I’d pick you every single time. No hesitation. No second thought. Just you.

Mama, I would go to the ends of the earth and back to see you smile. You deserve every flower, every blessing, every celebration, and every ounce of love coming your way today and always. Thank you for being the foundation of our family, the example of perseverance, and one of the greatest blessings God has ever given me.

I love you more than you’ll ever know.

LADY MENTALITY 7th Grade has officially been invited to compete in THE ONE SIX in Louisville, Kentucky! 🏀🔥

This exclusive, invite only event features ONLY the top 16 teams in the country within the UA Future platform . To be recognized as one of the best programs in the nation is a true honor, and these young ladies have EARNED it through hard work, discipline, sacrifice, and relentless mentality.

July 20-22, the stage gets bigger.
The competition gets tougher.
And the standard stays the same.

We’re not just showing up…
We’re coming to compete. 💯

Congratulations to our players, Coach and MENTALITY Director , and families for continuing to represent MENTALITY the right way. The work is paying off, but we’re just getting started.

Happy 25th Birthday to the one who made me a better father. ❤️

It feels like yesterday I met this beautiful little 11 year old girl, and I’ve been blessed to watch you grow into an amazing young woman filled with grace, substance, beauty, and strength.

I am beyond proud of you and thankful that through every season of life, we’ve continued to share a real relationship and connection.

No matter how old you get, one thing will never change… I will always be your father, and you will always be my daughter. Don’t ever question that and never forget it.

Congratulations to my son Elijah on your 8th grade promotion! 🎓

I’m beyond proud of all you’ve accomplished, but this is only the beginning. So much life, opportunity, and purpose still awaits you, and I can’t wait to watch your journey unfold.

What makes this next chapter even more special is knowing you’ll soon be walking the same halls I called home at Lincoln Prep for five years. Some of the best memories and moments of my life were created there, and it’s crazy to think you’ll now begin creating your own story in that same place. I know you’ll build lifelong memories, friendships, and moments that will stay with you forever.

You make me proud to be your father every day, son, and I expect nothing but greatness. Love you always. 🦾

‘The best are refined by Fire’ - Coach 🔥🔥🔥🔥

Basketball is more than dribbling and scoring. It’s fundamentals. The little things become the big things.

When you work out, you have to train with the game on your mind. Train at game speed. Train for game situations.

Catch the ball. Triple threat. Rip through. Repeat! Create that muscle memory so you’re doing it without thinking! Initiate the contact if the defender is crowding your space. If not, it’ll be a long game. Basketball is hand to hand combat and many players do not understand that. This is why turnovers happen.

Learn to deliver your off hand. Handle the ball without looking at it. Use your footwork to keep your body between the defender and the ball.

The little things add up over time, both good and bad.

Shout out to one of our youngest Lady MENTALITY members Amelia, getting work in with her big sisters and doing an amazing job. Keep putting the work in because the results will always show up in the game.
