Kansas City Rose Society Proud stewards of the Laura Conyers Smith Municipal Rose Garden in Jacob L. Loose Memorial Park, Kansas City, Missouri

Kansas City's Rose Garden began in 1931 when public-spirited citizens, under the leadership of Laura Conyers Smith, established the Kansas City Rose Society and its public garden. The first garden contained 120 roses, while the present garden displays 3,000 rosebushes of 130 varieties. The gracious circular plan, designed by eminent landscape architect, S. Herbert Hare, fills one and a half acres

with roses. Contributions from individuals and organizations in the early years provided the Garden's handsome limestone and timber pergolas.
