The YMCA of Greater Kansas City is proud to partner with FACE - Foundation for Autism Collaboration and Empowerment to expand access to adaptive swim lessons and water safety for neurodiverse swimmers. Through our Water Safety Initiative, children build confidence, independence, and life-saving skills in and around the water.

1:31 children are diagnosed with Autism. We highlight the profound implications of this ever increasing ratio and call upon our elected and medical leaders to press forward with understanding the why and how associated with ASD.

As we celebrate this day, we ask our friends to keep asking questions about our children. If you know one child with autism, you know how autism impacts that child only. Ask the “uncomfortable” questions. Your questions aren’t rude to parents. We want you to know more about our kids too! Ultimately, understanding opens the door to acceptance.
