A little over 6 weeks ago, I made those final steps down South Quincy Avenue to the front doors of Harvesters in Topeka, KS. This journey began with several months of preparation/training and culminated into a 7-day, 86.14 mile, 172,760 step adventure that I will never forget.

Thanks to the generosity of many, the 2019 Hunger Hike For Harvesters fundraising campaign raised a total of $5,560; which is the equivalent of 16,680 meals. Hundreds of food insecure children all across the Harvesters 26 county service area will not go hungry. Statistics show that children who are well nourished tend to have better grades, school attendance, cognitive performance, and better overall behavior. Every dollar that was donated is helping to ensure that these boys & girls are not only getting good, nutritious food to help them grow but also to help them succeed.

Thank you all for your encouragement and financial support.

Sincerely,

Scott Kellough

I’m happy to report that my feet almost feel back to normal. The past few days of extra rest sure has helped.

Here’s a daily breakdown of Hunger Hike For Harvesters 2019. Google Maps said that this should have been 77 mile walk but my Fitbit recorded it to be 86.14 miles. Either way, it was a heck of a workout & an excellent adventure.

As of Sunday September 8th, the Hunger Hike has raised $3,016. Using Harvesters’ equation of $1 = 3 meals, that means 9,048 meals will be provided to food insecure children in our region. Thank you all for your generous support of Harvesters.

The Hunger Hike For Harvesters fundraiser will run until September 30th which will be the last day of Hunger Action Month. To make a donation, please visit:

Today was the final day of the Hunger Hike. Compared to the last 6 days, this was a walk in the park only being 1.07 miles making a grand total of 86.14 miles walked from door to door. What a journey this has been!

Today started with a beautiful sunrise I got to enjoy from my own front yard seeing as I didn't have to get started walking before 6am. We arrived a little early this morning and got to enjoy exploring the Capitol's visitors center for a bit. One of the security guards talked to us for quite awhile giving us a great Kansas history lesson.

Around 9:40, I officially began the last mile of my hike and was joined by Lauren & Logan, staff members of Harvesters in KC. It was great getting to share this with them.

Just a little after 10, I rounded the corner of 3rd & Quincy and was met by Harvesters' food donation barrels lining the sidewalk and a large group wearing orange cheering me to the finish line. It's hard to explain the joy I felt at that moment.

What started out as a "crazy idea" for a fundraiser a couple years ago has turned into over $5,000 raised for Harvesters over the 2018 & 2019 Hunger Hikes that've been done. Using the Harvesters equation of $1 = 3 meals, that's over 15,000 meals! That would not have been possible without your generosity & support. Thank you so much.

A very special thank you to my support drivers over the past several days, Matt Wilt & my parents. They made sure I had everything I needed as I made this journey; fresh socks, water, snacks, a place to rest my feet, etc. If not for you, there's no way I could have done what I've done.

Thank you for following my journey over the past several days. Your donations and encouraging words have helped me every step of the way.

Even though my walk may be over, the fight against childhood hunger is still going on. The Hunger Hike fundraiser will continue until the end of Hunger Action Month (9/30). If you would like to make a donation, please visit:

Together we can go the extra mile to end childhood hunger.
