☀️⚽ The Club + Kickball = A Perfect Spring Break ⚽☀️

To wrap up a week of Spring Break, we brought 55 teens from 5 of our Club sites together at Cleveland Park for a kickball game — creating space to connect, build new friendships, and strengthen relationships across Clubs.

While the game brought plenty of energy and friendly competition, what stood out most were the connections. Familiar faces, new friendships, and that instant camaraderie that comes from being together outside of their usual spaces.

We wrapped it up with grilled hotdogs before everyone headed back to their Clubs.

Moments like these help build confidence, foster belonging, and remind us the Club is more than a place — it’s a community. 💙

Timera is the Unit Director at the Olathe Unit. She has worked for the organization for almost 5 years. She is passionate about working with youth and providing them with the best Club experience. She is also a youth soccer coach for 3rd and 4th-grade girls. Timera loves planning events for her Club and making the most normal things super fun for Club members!💙

💙 Full-circle moments like this mean everything. 💙

A huge thank you to Lee's Summit Honda for selecting Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Kansas City’s Hawthorne Unit as the beneficiary of their 2025 Quarter 4 Road to Giving Campaign. Because of their generosity, the Clubs received $10,867.59 to support local youth.

Hawthorne was chosen thanks to Tremon Solomon-Russell, a member of the Lee’s Summit Honda team, who wanted to give back to the Club that helped shape his childhood — the same Club his son and nephews attend today. What an incredible full-circle story.

Thank you to Lee’s Summit Honda and Tremon for investing in the next generation and helping create Great Futures for Club kids. 💙

As part of our Sports LAB™ Spotlight Series, we’re taking time each week to recognize youth who shine on and off the court by demonstrating key life skills. This week’s focus is Optimism—bringing a positive attitude, encouraging teammates, and showing great sportsmanship in every moment.

Week 3 Sports LAB™ Spotlight Winners:

Malachi L. – 6U KC Aces
Always eager to learn, Malachi asks questions, cheers from the bench, celebrates teammates, and proudly applies coaching feedback during games.

Dazhon B. – 8U KC Wildcats
A true team player who never complains and consistently shows sportsmanship.

Mariah brings a great attitude to every practice and game—her optimism is contagious.
