A Tradition of Giving That Began 75 Years Ago!! 💙🩵

Our first tour featured 6 homes with 1 room beautifully decorated and open to the public in each home. Tickets were $1 and we raised $1200!!

In the early years of the Tour, proceeds supported the Preschool for the Deaf at the University of Kansas Medical Center. This historic photo, published in The Key, shows children from the Preschool for the Deaf receiving a $4,000 gift from the Kansas City Kappa alumnae.

For decades, Kappa women in Kansas City continued to support the Preschool for the Deaf through the Holiday Homes Tour, helping provide educational opportunities and scholarships for those working in deaf education.

What started in the early 1950s became something much bigger than a holiday house tour. It became a tradition of community, generosity and giving back—a tradition that continues today.

As we look forward to the 2026 Kappa Holiday Homes Tour, we are proud to remember where it all began. 🏠🎄
