How do we support our vendors? 🤔
This year we are grateful to have received the Rooted Change fund from Community Capital. This award allowed us to grow the KCKFM team, expand our capacity, and support our vendors in a more meaningful way. From daily market operations to weekly newsletters, Emma, our new market assistant, has tremendously supported the growth and capabilities of the market. The rooted change fund also supported the continuation of our Local Lift booth. We hired Amy, our local lift specialist who has done a fantastic job of aggregating local food and expanding the market offerings to include local meat products, flowers, and produce not carried by other vendors. In the 2020 article Archambault, Trivette, Warsaw & Morales (2020) ""Vendor Variety and Market Sales"" they found that greater product diversity was associated with higher overall market sales.
The KCKFM team is always looking for ways to support its vendors. In 2025 we were awarded the Business Builder grant allowing us to reimburse or purchase marketing materials for our vendors. From new branded tents, to product labels we spent the fall of 2025 providing up to $1,000 in financial assistance to support vendors as they geared up for the 2025 season. This funding also supported a KCKFM rebrand, new website, and marketing materials for the season.
