💛 This Giving Tuesday, invest in the future of tradeswomen.

Heartland Women in Trades is working every day to support and empower women across the skilled trades, creating safer job sites, stronger pathways into apprenticeship, and a community where tradeswomen are seen, heard, and valued.

Your support helps us provide training, mentorship, advocacy, and community-building events that make a real difference in the lives of women entering and advancing in these careers.

If you believe in a more equitable and inclusive workforce, we invite you to give today. Every contribution helps us open doors for more women to enter and thrive in these life-changing careers.

Happy Thanksgiving from Heartland Women in Trades! 🦃

Today, we’re giving thanks for the strength, skill, and solidarity of the tradeswomen across our region. Whether you’re building bridges, finishing concrete, welding pipelines, or supporting those who do — your work shapes our communities every single day.

We’re also grateful for the unions, contractors, partners, and allies who continue to stand with us as we work to empower women in the skilled trades.

Wishing you rest, warmth, and connection today. Thank you for being part of this growing, powerful community.

This past Saturday we wrapped up a powerful Mental Health First Aid Certification Training facilitated by Wellness Tools for the Trades, in partnership with the NAWIC Gr Kansas City Chapter #100

Investing in mental health is investing in safer, stronger job sites, and we’re proud to bring this training to our community. Thank you to all who showed up, leaned in, and committed to supporting others!

All of us at MOWIT are tremendously saddened and heartbroken to have lost not just a sister, but a supporter and a friend.

Patti Green was our Outreach Coordinator, who has been with us since October 2023, where she has helped us flourish into the organization that we are today. She had a loving heart and a strong belief of empowering women and was a fierce advocator in not only helping those already in the trades, but sought out every opportunity to recruit and help lead the way for others.

Our commitment as an organization is to build a diverse workforce, a strong labor movement, safe and healthy worksites, and women’s empowerment and economic security. But for Patti, it was more than that. It was her core belief. And it showed through her dedication to Missouri Women in Trades, as she showed up with support and encouragement and almost always wearing a MoWit shirt.

You could tell that she was proud to be a part and to make a difference together, and we were proud to have her. She will be greatly missed and loved forever.

Patti Green will forever be part of Missouri Women in Trades.

We will share any information about services for Patti as we learn about them. Until then our hearts and prayers are with her family and our community. Please reach out if you need to talk. 💗

Even if Women in Apprenticeship Day isn’t being recognized by the U.S. Department of Labor this year, we’re joining the National Taskforce on Tradeswomen's Issues today in celebrating and honoring the work, grit, and progress happening every single day in our region for women in apprenticeship.

Across the Heartland, tradeswomen are training, building, and leading. Apprenticeships aren’t just a workforce strategy, they are a launching pad to economic mobility and long-term stability for women and their families.

And today is especially meaningful for us at Heartland Women in Trades: in addition to it historically being Women in Apprenticeship Day, it also marks one year since our first Equity Summit, where we brought partners together to tackle the barriers women face in the skilled trades. That momentum hasn’t slowed, and neither have we.

Whether or not the day is officially acknowledged, we’re committed to expanding access, strengthening protections, and ensuring women can thrive in apprenticeship pathways and beyond.

The work continues—and so do we. 💪

We at Heartland Women in Trades are deeply saddened by the tragic loss of Amber Czech, a young welder whose promising career in the trades was cut far too short. We join the broader construction community in mourning her death and extend our heartfelt condolences to her family, friends and colleagues.

Amber’s story reminds us of why safety, dignity and respect on job sites must never be optional. Violence, harassment and bullying have no place in our industry. As an organization committed to supporting women entering and thriving in nontraditional trades, we stand firm in our belief that every worker, regardless of gender, deserves a work environment free from fear, harm or harassment.

Let Amber’s life and legacy inspire us to redouble our efforts: to educate, to advocate, and to change the culture of work so that every female trade professional is welcomed, protected, and empowered to succeed.

To all the women forging new paths in the skilled trades: you matter. Your safety matters. Your voice matters. And together we will build sites and careers where you can belong and thrive.

In her memory, and in solidarity with all tradeswomen and workers, we recommit to advancing a future of equity, respect and opportunity across the construction industry.

With respect,

Emily Snyder - HWIT President; Whitney Chandler - HWIT Vice President; Pam Nolte - HWIT Treasurer; Kelly McClellen - HWIT Secretary; Jenna Johnson - Executive Director
