If you thought maternity leave in this country was bad, you don’t wanna know about “cancer leave.”

This lady has to go back to work Monday despite still being in recovery from radiation. She has to manage lymphedema therapy twice a week,
palliative care weekly appointments, and various other doctor visits along with a full time schedule.

hey everyone, this is lindsay and i am the founder of the merry outlaw. (i am also wearing a lymphatic massage machine which is my new favorite outfit)

i would first like to apologize for dropping off the face of the earth about six months ago. current projects like our mutual aid app were barely holding on and i had to cancel future programs and events. all of this happened because i was diagnosed with a rare (for my age, especially) and aggressive tongue cancer. you can learn more details on my personal page, .girl

due to a very intense recovery, the return of the merry outlaw may be slow-going, and for that i apologize. our mutual aid app is still in full force though, so never stop giving neighbors some love.

now i am here, truly understanding the full circle of mutual aid. i am here asking for your help. i have been unable to work but have had to come up with rent and utilities each month and am facing stacks of medical bills, etc. you can read more (and donate if you wish / are able) on my gofundme page— the link is below. if you can’t donate at this time (and also if you can), it would be AWESOME if you could share on your socials.

first we just want to apologize as we’ve been pretty quiet in the last 6 months or so. our founder, lindsay, was diagnosed with cancer (she is in treatment, and she’s gonna kick its ass!) and we’ve had very little additional help during her time away. she says hi and she misses all of you and can’t wait to be back.⁣⁣

in the meantime, let us introduce you to our newest intern, noah. ⁣⁣we think he’s a pretty cool dude. noah’s pronouns are he/him.

the last few weeks have been devastating for human rights. the world is hurting, and while people experience poverty, pain, and violence... the supreme court decides to focus on stripping bodily autonomy and making gun access easier. our hearts hurt and our community is hurting as a result of these decisions. its hard to know what to do, but we are capable of being there for one another.

reach out to your neighbors. give when you can. don't let a powerful group of people ruin the spirit of community. we have plenty of open requests that need filling, and there are ways to give that arent money....... but share your money!!!!!! you cant take it with you when you die! lol

TMO is working on a resource page for the kansas city area with information on access to safe abortion care. no one should be forced to give birth because of someone elses religion/beliefs/opinions/wishes. if you have good resources shoot us a dm! we will let you know when that launches 🤍💚
